Has anyone seen the XT version of ROTK, and is it worth getting? Or should I say, how does it compare with the theatrical. I never watch the theatrical versions of the first 2 movies anymore.
Don't stop! :~D
The minute I have something to add, I won't hesitate!
I like it a LOT. I never watch any of the theatrical versions either.
Sam! How long have we been friends?
Of course we have it! And no, we'd never watch the theatricals.
There are some important new scenes in the extended, and I think it's worth getting!
It had some good bits added, but not some of the stuff I'd have really wanted. Still, get it, don't bother with the theatrical.
I just had such a good time. Steve even took off half a day on Friday to take me to the salvage yard. He's got a lot of vacation time.
That was a weird weird experience. Very spooky!
We walked in (me, the jedis and Steve) and about 8-10 men were standing there...no one said a word. They just stared at us. Finally, this old guy says "Can I help you?" I said "We want to look at your Beetles. He said "All right, but we close in just a few minutes."
So we went rushing out there and literally, there were half a dozen bugs there...and it was surrounded by a SWAMP! Steve and I looked around and we find this huge hood...like to a big truck or something! We managed to pick that thing up and make a bridge out to the Beetles!
Found a 1970 just like mine, Yukon Yellow and everything...I need it's left front fender, but we didn't have time to get it.
As we left, I swear, all those men were still just standing there staring at us! Like we'd stumbled on their still or something! Ha ha! It was weird.
Told Steve "You're coming back to get that fender...I'm not coming out here alone!"
He said "No, you're not."
The salvage yard guys probably just wanted to go home, but whatever adds to your excitement!
I took a sun visor out of a wrecked pickup once that had a broken windshield with blood and hair stuck in it.
Salvage yards can be spooky in more ways than one. ;~\
Ewww!! LOL Glad it didn't stop you!
You'd think these guys, as many as there were, would be talking even amongst themselve, though...they weren't saying A WORD. Just standing there. Staring.
Had bad vibes from it...you know the feeling...
I still haven't got the manuals I won on eBay, though...I was hoping I would get them yesterday, but it's probably a good thing I didn't. Mighta had a stroke from all the excitement!
Honestly 2J? First, guys don't go into the salvage yard business because they have the salesmanship and social skills to charm their customers... and second, with all affection, you and the whole family probably were quite the spectacle coming in a few minutes becore closing. ;~D
I'd have probably stared too at you guys out there in the mud trying to build a bridge out of car parts to get a dome light out of an old car. ;~D
OK, I'll go get it. Thank you. Can't figure out why I don't have it anyway. Probably I'll pick up a DVD of Crichton's "Great Train Robbery" while I'm at it.
ROFLOL!!!!
Gasp! I'm just roaring. The kids are saying "What's so funny?"
What a mental picture.
I guess you could be right. I was thinking they just wanted us to get the heck out so they could cook their meth or something. (It's rampant around here, although not as bad as it was before they made you sign up to obtain Sudafed.)
I think you'll like it. I prefer it.
I only wish it had more of the Eowyn/Faramir story in it, but at least it's got more than the theatrical version had!
My wife has spent a little time in auto junk yards here in Miami looking for odd parts, like a sun visor most recently. She usually gets what she wants.
But I have to say, we got the dome light out of the salvage yard across the street at an "import" salvage yard and they were extremely professional. A young man greeted us, spoke with the jedis, escorted us out to the Beetles and reminded us if we couldn't find what we needed he could run a search of other salvage yards online and have it shipped to them! Then, he left us along to rummage, after telling us to take our time and if we needed help or tools, to let him know!
So my first and only experience with a salvage yard, before the one with the spooky guys, was very positive. I would feel comfortable going back to that one.
I need running board bolts!! I coulda got those easy! It just slipped my mind.
I also need a cover for my lock on my back of my van...you know, that you push down to lock or pull up if you don't have automatic locks? It gets stuck in the down position because the cover is missing.
Heh...I'd like to go back...I really enjoyed being out there rummaging around. Interesting, imo.
Yeah - but I think guys that are cooking meth don't have day jobs with business hours and customers coming in. They're out at the ends of roads that say no trespassing.
Well, these yards ARE way out in the country...pretty isolated during "non-business hours".
But I'm sure you're right. But I'm tellin' ya, people here in Oklahoma can be the sweetest people you ever met. Or the absolute strangest.
I've been to some that were nicer than others... One salvage yard they've inventoried everything they've got in the computer and they go out and get it off the car for you ;~D
I guess there's a range of types of guys that open salvage yards ;~D
I'm sure! :~D
