The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh... but I'm Lutheran. We ran out of incense, and never bothered to go to the store for more. :-)

And the pot luck was starting, so we all decided to have a little lunch, and Mrs. Ingvid brought that casserole that everybody likes so much.

Mmmmm... pizza.

"The Carnivore"... Canadian bacon, pepperoni, beef, bacon, sausage, mozzarella, provolone, and parmesan. With "pepperoni rolls" (pepperoni and provolone cheese stuffed into pizza bread) on the side.

*drool*

Especially someone like her. I really do love Dona to death... she's so sweet... but it's so darn frustrating to pick movies that she can watch.

She has a zero-tolerance for any sort of suspense. If she doesn't know how a movie ends, she will *not* watch it. She got up and walked out of "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" as soon as John Goodman wacked the guy with the stick. We cajoled her back into the room again... but when the scene with the Klan started... boom... gone... it took lots more cajoling to get her back again.

She has still not seen any of the LOTR movies. Can't cope with the violence.

It's frustrating.

We just got back from the circus. WooHoo! That was some show. It was a medium sized traveling circus based out of Hugo, OK called "Carson and Barnes 5 Ring Circus."

www.carsonbarnescircus.com

It was quite a bit of fun, but I am still in shock at how expensive it was. Adult tickets for the show were $16 while kiddos 2 and up were $6. To ride anything was 2 tickets (=$2), which included riding horses, playing in the bounce house, sliding the hugh slide, going to see the 1000lb snake, feeding the animals, etc.

My favorite part was the elephants. The cirque du soleil was cool too. I wasn't that impressed with the tigers and lions. elf-boy really liked the clowns (they were too goofy), and says that the bounce house was his favorite part. Bittygirl got bored about 2/3 way through, and wiggled as much as possible for the remainder of the show.

PE tried to win a balloon for elf-boy, but, alas, we didn't get a winning coupon in our bag of roasted peanuts (instead of a balloon, elf-boy got a stuffed elephant that trumpets when you squeeze its belly.).

No sympathy. I didn't like Beck at all - only watched three eps, though.

Bleach is good, and faithful to the manga thus far....

And the sad thing about those is, while the Goodman scene is a little shocking (I was more traumatized that he killed the frog) The Klan scene is really more comedy than scary, with the goofy choreography. If they are injecting dance manueuvers into it, they definately aren't trying to take the Klan seriously.
