Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |
Oh - we'll talk about it... and we'll start a rumor that is even more fascinating than the truth.
Just make sure I'm thin and hu...
Well, you know. ;-)
hey, if'n somebody gets kilt, s'okay by me... and somebody's always dyin' in Shakespeare...
I'm back!
What a funny turn this thread has taken!
I want to die of old age...just want to drift away with my Jedis and all their numerous kids gathered around my bedside, gazing and smiling at Steve, waiting for me on the other side (assuming he goes first).
I remember walking into the room of a 93 year old woman gazing off in what appeared to be distance and smiling. I asked her "Why are you smiling?" and she said "I'm smiling at my mother." She peacefully died later that day.
That's how I want to die.
But we're not the sitcom - your family's the sitcom - we're the audience. And the audience always comes up with ridiculous reasons why you're not there.
How do you feel about being abducted by aliens?
Papa talked to his mom and Jesus the whole day before he died. Wasn't really talking to anyone else around him. Wife's brother was traveling and Papa kept saying "I can't come yet Mama, I have to wait until Johnny gets home."
Brother came home. Papa went home.
Those are the tragedies... everyone dies in those. I like the comedies better, everyone ends up married.
ha!!! nobody'd believe it...
Didn't mind it too much the first time.
Killed in a freak windshield-wiper accident? Food poisoning after a lunch meeting? Being zotted by an angry mod?
Shakespeare done comedies?... ;0)
It's amazing...but it happens more often than you can imagine! All nurses have stories...
Have I told this story? Probably.
The month before my Dad died, he and my mom took a trip down to Florida to see his sister, and to meet up with me on tour.
Before they left, my mom had a "vision" in church. She saw her mom and my dad's mom holding a white robe. She thought it meant she would die on the trip.
She went home and got all the finances and business paperwork in order. Two weeks after they got home, my Dad died.
in fact, he rather enjoyed the cavity probes...
I was "Peter Quince" in "Midsummer Night's Dream" in college.
Always wanted to play the lead in the Scottish play...
thank you for being gentle
I don't recall you ever telling me that before! That's amazing...
Hey, btw...Steve did turn in a rough draft of his thesis. He still has some data to write up, and we're pretty sure it won't be complete by next month, but it's getting there!
I believe that it's common to have visions like that. My grandpa talked to his dad, and it was definately a two way conversation.
There were a couple of other things that happened when my Dad died. The week I had on tour led up to me finding things out (much to long a story for now).
The Pastor woke up that morning and felt the need to "pray for Mr. Stormhands."
And my aunt (his oldest sister) heard what she described as "heavenly music."
It probably really messes with theology to believe all of that, but I do. And I know it gave the family a great deal of comfort.
When (at homeschool co-op) we did Shakespeare, I always tried to read the roles of Katherine in "Taming of the Shrew" or Beatrice in "Much Ado About Nothing". If there wasn't a female part, I'd want a male role with good lines, like Mercutio in "Romeo and Juliet".
We read the Scottish play one semester. Lady M. was fun, too.
