The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Whine away, Corin. There's nothing I hate more than having schedules disrupted.

Actually (and this is just between you and me) I'd like to show it! Not to win anything (but that would be nice)...but just to show people our handiwork! It's why we want to put it back to almost just the way it was...not custom at all! It's called "stock". It's gonna be hard...and I don't know if we can even do it. But we're going to try. (And a lot of shows allow for some non-stock repairs if stock is no longer available...but only "some"...the closer to stock, the better.)

Plus (and again, just between you and me) I think it would be fun to drive it in a parade with the jedis!

Be CAREFUL!

It seems when people harried and stressed is when most accidents happen. So be careful!

He's only 45? Wow, I thought he was in his fifties at least. Shows what scowling does to one after a while.

Some Metamucil? Or perhaps some Ex-Lax?

Expect me when I regain control of my time...I'll make sure I'm done whining by then...

I wouldn't promise that... You can't know what else might come up.

All our best, regardless :~D

I'm sitting out in the shop, admiring the Bug and doing proportions with Matthew.

I thought in some of his facial shots in the first movie that Mr. Weaving much resembled conductor and Early Music specialist Nikolaus Harnoncourt, especially the way Harnoncourt looked conducting Monteverdi's "L'Orfeo" on film.

But man, I have just been sittin' here, reading The Samba forum. Some guy just got a bunch of his VW stuff stolen. The person that stole it obviously had his eye on the shop.

Now I'm really nervous, because like I say...we don't live in the best neighborhood. I don't want to have to hide what we're doing though, because everyone is so tickled and they wave and such when they drive by! But you never can tell what someone is thinking.

Don't they make some pretty cheap alarms? That would just bolt onto the windows and doors of the shop? I'd been wanting to get something like that for the jedi's windows anyways...might at least scare them off...

Yes, they do make some very inexpensive motion detectors and/or dorr and window alarms. Check out Home Depot or a hardware store.

Check out Home Depot

I'm gonna.

Man, would that be a bummer or what if someone made off with this car after we put so much time and effort (and eventually money) in to it?

And it's not insured...which leads me to the next question...wonder how one goes about insuring something like this? A work in progress?

I suppose I should be keeping receipts...

I'd think the car itself is not much of a theft risk until it actually as a motor and somewhere to sit in it ;~D

Well, true...but it would only take someone about 10 minutes who knew what they were doing to haul it up onto a trailer and load up every bit of the innards and drive off. If for nothing but the parts! And believe me, some of the parts that this Beetle still has are extremely hard to come by...just the Sapphire radio it's self is worth a lot.

And then what about if the shop burns down and toasts My Precious? Hmmm?? LOL

My knuckles are getting whiter by the second.

I'm gonna.

I betcha it'll be a possession as apposed to a vehicle until it gets registered with the state. I bet they'd cover it as something like a stereo or computer or something...

You might also lose something on it's value by not ensuring it as a car... As a bunch of parts, you may get a few hundred dollars for it's loss... reimbursement of what you have in it rather than replacement cost.

If it were running, what would it be worth?

Homeowner's insurance covers a lot of things... but they may begin to exclude it the closer it becomes to being a car.
