Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Good morning!! Its a beautiful day here, after a truely nasty thunderstorm yesterday. I just hope it stays this way long enough to let everything dry out. Could really use a couple more cool dry fronts to get rid of this pernicious moldy smell that has been building since last October.

I love any FRESH green vegetable : zucchini, broccoli, spinach (I like it raw with mandarin oranges, purple onion, and a bacon vinagrette...MMMMM!!), asparagus (LOVE asparagus when its fresh...just bought a whole bunch at $.99 at the local grocers...boiled until just tender, then skillet sauted with either a mix of ginger/soy sauce/sesame seeds, or herb de provence and butter), lettuces, especially the kind that go into mesclun mixes. I hate it when someone boils the heck out of a vegetable...I like mine to have a 'crunch' most of the time. I especially love grilled vegetables.

Asparagus may be my favorite...at least at times. Hopefully it's more available in CO! Here it's only available a few months out of the year, but you can bet I take advantage of it! I also like it sauteed with worcester sauce and/or wine. Mmmmm... A lot of times if I make a marinated steak, I'll use some of the marinade while cooking some asparagus. Good!

elf-boy and I have been making sugar cookies this mornin. He cut some dinosaurs, and I used biscuit cutters.
He ate all the dinosaurs (there were about 6 of them) and almost all of the smallest sized round cookies. BittyGirl ate about three cookies, well, some of three cookies anyway. I had to clean up quite a few crumbs.
