I was just looking at the eagle again, and my own hand... if he can grab around the long edge of a 2x6, his talons are a lot bigger than my hand. They are just really big birds.
~sip~
Morning, Hair, that is pretty cool that an eagle is using your dock these days - wonderful picture.
There are quite a few bald eagles in the Everglades, strangely. Once, while fishing, we saw two bald eagles dive into a flock of egrets that were flying over the mouth of one of the Everglades rivers, the Harney. The eagles grabbed one of the egrets right out of the air and flew away with it.
Am back from the funeral in VA as of Friday. Was a nice funeral, more like a low key party, many close friends from all over were there, many shared memories. The service itself was as they should be, no more than 15 minutes, no public displays of private emotion, a couple prayers, one hymn, and we're out of there - same routine at the cemetary, which was on the side of a mountain overlooking Charlottesville.
Morning, everyone.
That would have been quite a sight... I recall an eagle swooping down to pick something up once from the water, but it was a really large fish carcass, and he couldn't fly with it... eventually had to let it go, but he tried several times.
Yawn. Morning. Daylight savings time is pretty dumb, isn't it?
Yes.
My internal clock will be screwed up for a week at least. Oh well!
Doing laundry and looking at a tool I might be able to use for my project (that will probably turn into my thesis). It's gorgeous out, and a very lazy sort of day overall.
Yeah, this time change is harder to adjust to than the one in October, it takes me several days as well.
Do you graduate this spring?
Afternoon,
Just sittin' down to catch my breath. Apparently the indigestion from Friday night was more than that. Felt like crap all day yesterday and am not 100% today. I reckon it means since we basically solved the respiratory stuff with the air purifier that I'll be plagued with intestinal stuff now. Maybe I should put a plumber on retainer.
Finished painting the bathroom and got the hardware back up today. But in the grand mouse~cookie~glassofmilk scheme, now I need to redo the ceiling and repaint the woodwork. That's okay, it'll just be on ~the list~.
OT/osage/300WM - put a new suet cake out and wired the cage shut. Then I doused it well with cayenne pepper. We'll see that happens.
I reckon the naybers takin' out them bushes does have the benefit that my iris will get more direct sun...but still...
osage/LSA - I fergit. When can I set the cannas back out?
Suzi - our Pentecostal preacher was continuing his series on David today, but interjected a nice tribute to the Pope. Said while we have many differences theologically, he recognized him as a "man after God's own heart" who gave his life in service and who wasn't afraid to face death.
Hah, no way. Another year on my masters', minimum (pretty standard for a CS masters', at least one involving a thesis)
I'm just as glad. Grad school is fun. I haven't decided whether to go all the way or not but if I do, this is the time and the place to do it.
Woo Hoo! Daylight Savings! Now I'll have time to play in the yard after werk.
How's Nana doing? Any progress?
I have to clean this whole apartment before Rosie gets here. Dunno how it got messy so quickly, but it did. Oh well. I'm going to procrastinate a little longer...
I'm doin' chores.... We'll have to tidy up for Rosie too pretty soon.... right now I think I should tidy up just so ~we~ can actually stand to be here.
She's doing a little better. Her hands are getting better so they can get her up more. She was able to walk to the door yesterday. She'll probably move to the skilled nursing facilty on Tuesday. Then it'll be 3-6 weeks there. We're trying a different location this time.
Local sister has been to visit ~once~.
The other reference in the Pastor's sermon this morning was for us. He talked about Mephibosheth and how David brought him in...Nana's sorta our Mephibosheth...lost everything, no one else wants her...that kind of thing.
But there's no great spiritual bonus points on our part. Especially since we harbor a lot of anger at the other siblings. I think I said this the other day. I hope they all live long enough to be guilty for a long time...

~sigh~ around here I'm the only one that bothers...
That's excellent!
Suet Pudding.
Take 1 cup of suet chopped fine, 1 cup of New Orleans molasses, 1 cup of chopped raisins, 1 cup sour milk, 1 teaspoon soda, dissolved in a little warm water, 1 teaspoon ground cloves, 1 teaspoon cinnamon ½ nutmeg grated, 3 cups flour, 2 eggs. Mix as you would cake, a little more flour may be added if too soft. Put in greased mold and steam 3 hours.
Recipe from the "Old Louisville Cookbook." It looks good, I keep meaning to try making one of those old suet puddings, we used to love them as kids. I think the American Heart Association would plotz, though. However, I have a feeling that heart attacks could have been less prevalent in the days when those kinds of things were eaten.
ummm...gee thanks Sam, but I was feedin' the birds...
