Urgh...
Just got home. At least the assignment's done. I swear I tried everything I could to get them to work with me sooner, so I get to whine about spending a good seven hours on it tonight.
It was like no other experience I've had, other than walking the beaches at Normandy.
Darn good movie. But it does prove why most actors should shut up and act.

We were testing a munition. It was splendid - lots of acquisition organizations got all giddy - and we got lots of data to help commanders in the field. I got goosebumps. The U.S. Army kicks ***. :)
Good morning! I'm flying home today. Wahoo!
Sounds good to me!
Mmm...really hope I get to do some major hiking over the next few years, too.
The Today show is having a "things I want to do before I die" contest.
I told 'em I want to raft the canyon. You should go for the Scotland trip.

You'll have lots of great hiking opportunities in Colorado.
Don't be an idjit like I was in my 20s saying "I'll get to that." If you have the opportunity...do it now!
Sigh...
Reckon I'd better go paint the bathroom. Don't look like the Extreme Makeover people are coming today.
I've been doin' that for the past four years. It's time to leave that attitude behind.
Great pictures! I can not believe you were on Route 66 and didn't swing by to see me!
;-)
Good morning! Do I understand we're going to the Grand Canyon for our next Entmoot? Can you get there via NM? Lil's got me sold on wanting to visit there too! Seriously, I've never been to the GC and would love to go! Maybe the Bug will be ready by then?
Adventurous hobbitses!
Goooooood morning! It's a glorious day out there at the moment: crisp and cool, but not toooo cool, and with the bluest sky you ever saw! I can only hope we get weather like this next week...
Big News. BIG BIG NEWS!
Now this is related to the Bug and I promise I won't go off on a Bug Gush like I did yesterday, but this is big news!
Steve and I were standing in the kitchen talking and trying to get some idea about where to begin to fix this car! He said "We can't afford to do much" and I said "But we might could afford to do something to prepare it for the expensive stuff!" We ultimately agreed to put the engine in the car and take it to Der German Imports and have the old guy there look at it and give us an estimate on what we can do, what he's going to have to do and how much it will all cost.
So I pulled the van around back to the shop and was just going in the shop when this darling little family...a young man and his wife and child, was out for a walk. The young man practically sprinted over to me and said "Pardon me, I don't mean to bother you, but can I look at your car?"
"Sure!" I replied, then to Matthew I said "Go get your father." (Gotta be safe, you know?)
So this young man gushed over my car in a way you wouldn't believe...tickled me to death and then he lays this on us...he owns TWO auto restoration shops! One is just a few miles down the street! He works mainly on restoring and hotrodding pickups. But then he said "But I love restoring old Beetles...I haul them out of fields and re-do them." Said he had about half a dozen in his shop in various degrees of resto and that he had every part you could imagine! He was saying stuff like "Hey, I have such and such part...if you need it let me know, I'll just give it to you."
He said he has two Beetles that he shows and GUESS WHAT?? He said he'd bring one by and let me drive it!!!
He literally lives just down the street from us and said he'd noticed us out working on it (I knew the neighbors were driving by and staring!) but he hated to bother us!
BOTHER US?? LOL
Anyway, he says he wants to help up work on it in our shop, just for fun! He also said my little car was in perfect condition to restore.
He was very polite and encouraging. Just goes to show having your tongue pierced doesn't make you an automatic thug. :-)
Wow...that's a really cool story! I'm so happy for you! That'll make it that much more possible to get it back on its wheels, and relatively quickly, no? And you'll have an expert to give you hands-on, in-person advice when you need it!
You'll have to get pictures of you driving the show Beetle...
BTW, I think that DOES qualify as a Bug Gush. ;-) But that's A-OK!
I'm pretty tickled...I couldn't wait to get in here and tell you guys about it. I tried last night, but Steve took an extra quick shower!
Good morning! Sounds fun! I'm not really awake yet ;~D
