Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Are those still drive-up service?YES! Sometimes they close the one by my house, for whatever reason. I was very lucky and not only was it open, but no one else was in line! :-D
It only took me 5 minutes round trip.
Morning everyone!

I mean... sometimes maybe you just really gotta have some seeds in the middle of the night. Or a tractor.Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. When I go to get milk, I have to milk the rent-a-cow. *wink*

Whoa!! What a cool shot of Mt. St. Helen's!!
When we were flying out to AZ in 2000, I happened to look out the window and caught sight of Niagara Falls (Horseshoe Falls), but it was way too far below us to get a good picture.

BTW, there are non-tech temp jobs around.True. Paul made $10 an hour doing filing one summer! He worked a full 10 weeks on the same 'temp job' Not bad for grunt work.

No offense taken at all.
That is precisely why it is so frustrating. She isn't old by any stretch of the imagination, but she hobbles around with a heating pad as if she were 80. And she takes Xanax to "help her sleep after so much stress". *rolls eyes*
One time, I couldn't hold my tongue and told her if she was gonna do drugs, she may as well smoke a joint. It's cheaper. hehehehe.... You shoulda seen her face.
I remember when she was my age, she would tell me to wait until I was in my thirties and I would feel how the body deteriorates. Well, yes my back hurts more than it used to, but other than that, I feel stronger and tougher than I did in my twenties.
She does this for attention, but if she weren't my mother, she's exactly the type of person I avoid. Folks that complain and gripe constantly just to get attention can suck the life right out of everyone around them. And no matter what you say or do, they are never happy anyway.
So what's the point in trying?

Amazing Race was 2 hours long last night? I didn't know!
I watched it from 9 to 10.
Did I miss the first hour or the second?

Folks that complain and gripe constantly just to get attention can suck the life right out of everyone around them. Remember that Twilight Zone episode where the woman either turned into or had a spider that would just suck the very life out of the victims, and that's how she lived?
That's the way we used to describe Papa and Nana. They could suck the very life out of a room just by walkin' in.
Nana's not ~quite~ that bad by herself. But she still manages to cast a shadow over everything in our life these days.

(((Ruthy))) Don't know what to say. I avoid negative people like the plague! You're right, they just suck the life right out of you. I guess you'll just need to wait until Alyson is in school, then have another discussion with your mom about whether or not you want to stay with her. Heck, it may even be worth it having the discussion now, if only to shock her into some realization of what she's doing to herself! But that may precipitate events you don't want to face right now. I can understand that.
You're in my prayers, hon. Families can be such a pain in the butt. Frankly, we've been glad to be so far away from both of ours since we've been married. We visit frequently, but we don't have to get caught up in the mini-dramas. ;o)

That's exactly what I mean.
Misery loves company. And some strive to keep as much company as they can.

That's what I keep telling myself when I feel like I'm gonna lash out at her.
Eventually, Alyson will start school and I can budget in after-school care if I cut corners elsewhere.
I may have to relocate because you can't even get a one-bedroom apartment here for less than $850-900/month, but then I have to look for work again. *sigh*
I have complete faith that God will lay out the path I need to take. And for now, I have to be with my mom until God throws me through the attic ceiling.

Oh, no? What's he doing now? At least you can take comfort in the fact that his work looks really, really good, and it seems to last too. I never realized how bad one crown (previous dentist) looked until it failed and Dr. Z put in a properly done crown. World of difference!
