Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And take the hidden paths that run...
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I've seen a lot of kids who seem to never want to eat. I don't know how they grow on practically no fuel, but they seem to! Maybe it's just a bad phase.

I will never willingly eat spinach by itself. My cousin's college buddy (the one with the kids aforeseen) makes a 'licious cheese'n'spinach pizza.
I've had kimchi in Korea, Blutwurst in Bavaria, and Escargot in Normandy.
And keep nassty fish, which I guess proves I'm not a Stoor.

I saw those! First day in-country. "These people eat
that?"
I had been forewarned about kimchi (which I learned to like) and dog (which, thank the Lord, never materialized); the squid thing just freaked me.

Yep...was still drinkin' then. OB, and this GI drinkin'n'whorin'* spot 1/4 mile into Uijongbu had a substance called "jungle juice" served in a largish brass teapot...pretty potent by itself, but custom dictated that somebody bring one o' those tiny bottles of soju to fortify it. Way to get Seriesly effed up
*Nope, not me. Even with the lack o' morals I had at the time, I was skeered of cooties. Actually, more scared of Army Cootie Cure.

Yes.
Quite apart from 18-year-old medics doing unpleasant, unspeakable things to your treasures (and then entirely failing to call you in the morning), apparently a vital curative agent was administered in the form of an Article 15 proceeding (I believe y'all called that "Office Hours"). I regarded that as adding insult to injury, and chose not to risk it.

Did y'all call that "Captain's Mast", or is that exclusive to the deep-water sailors?

Yup... Capn's Mast. That looooong green table were everybody be drinkin' coffee and smokin' cigarettes but you...
Kept my nose pretty clean. Never got sent up for anything. On both my ships, I can only remember a couple of masts. The weren't real common.

Gotta agree with ya on the squid. Squid is food for fishes, not people.
