The Hobbit Hole XX - And take the hidden paths that run...
The Freeper Hobbit Hole ^

Posted on 03/05/2005 11:51:13 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And take the hidden paths that run...

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Don't dispair, consider yourself saved.

Just look what it's done to Corin.

A chick interviewed today said she had quit her job to hang outside the Jackson courthouse.

In the 1960s? You're kidding, right?

Seattle 1960

No... no... that's not possible.

Well, I suppose the other side of the coin is that some company in the area just freed themselves of so many pounds of walking emotional baggage, and improved its average productivity.

It's a win-win. :-)

You seen Corin lately?

I wondered if it was drugs... but apparently it was just spam.

I just heard a great quote on Seifeld from Elaine...

Think I'll make it a tagline for awhile ;~D

Heh...the one I keep wanting to use...."Are you sharing an IQ with someone?"

Back later. Gotta get Luke to bed. Then I ~may~ go to the gym. Or I might just go to bed myself...

Later...lava flows have mysteriously toppled all structures built after 1960...and even more mysteriously to cause previously demolished buildings to reconstitute.

Wow... that's back when the "Smith Tower" was still the tallest building in Seattle, I think. In the picture its the last one on the right, the white pointy one before the peak of Mt. Rainier.

Cool building. The top floor is a restaurant/bar, under the big, open pyramid entirely finished in copper. Really something to see.

I saw it last in 1974. Already surrounded by much larger buildings.I only had eyes for the Space Needle.

Roger that. It's a dwarf (sic) in Seattle now. And heck, in 1960 the Space Needle was still just a blueprint. That's about when they started building it.

Now the Needle is dwarfed by lots of perfectly ordinary buildings, and a few extraordinary ones. The skyline, viewed from Alki beach across the water at sunset is, however, breathtaking.

Obviously I typed a "< i >" in there. What I don't know is why.

See my tag...but don't. It's nearly crashtime and I don't want to stay up past it.

I got rear-ended today (again), in the company truck (again), and I'm OK (still). But I'm whupped.
