Don't stop! :) What I can see is Dusty Miller and deep purple Petunias. I'm not sure about the others. What a great combination of color and flowers!

I didn't see your post before I gave that picture a try. Verbena! I think your right.:) Those looked familiar to me and I couldn't think of what it is.

I'd post the others if they weren't of such poor quality. Pretty blurry. Glad some of you "guys" enjoyed the good shots though. Thanks for helping with the identification of some of the flowers. I'm pretty clueless in that area.
I have been attempting to get a shot of the Brown Thrashers but they are shy and busy birds and don't cotton to my snooping around their nests at all. They have made use of all the twine I cut up along with some stout twigs I put near the shrub. Oh, and I gave my long haired German Shepard a good brushing and placed the hair on the ground that was snatched up swiftly for lining I assume.
The female was sitting on the nest at sunset so maybe she has laid the eggs or is very close to doing so.
I'll get some pictures of them in due time. Just wait.

Good Morning MamaTexan!
It's chilly this morning but we may get near 60 today. By Sunday, we should be over 60! The weather people better be telling the truth. :)
I have to put some Epsom salts on my Roses! I have somewhere in the upper 30's of Roses Bushes. I did that last year, What a difference in new canes. I think the secret is getting out around here. The price of Epsom Salts is so much higher this year. It use to be $1 something and now it's well over $2. I'm going to have to run to Walmart just for Epsom Salts. :)
Guess where my husband is :) See he is in TX more than here.
What? Your husband doesn't want to talk about your flowers with you ;). LOL

Your pictures are great to see. That place is near you? How lucky are you! You can keep taking pictures for us because each month or more, there will be different flowers coming up all the time.
Looking forward to your pictures of Brown Thrashers!
I wanted to ask you, did you have a problem with your Mockingbirds becoming territorial? I see two of them fighting, but I think one was trying to chase a Cardinal last night from the other side of the yard that I put Mockers food. I just hope a nest isn't too close to the house. I sure don't want them divebombing me. LOL!

Good Morning All!
Seems Mockingbird has chased Mr. and Mrs. Robin out of here. So it looks like their nest will be elsewhere this year. :)
My parents are so fortunate. I went over for a visit yesterday and outside on their deck is a wicker bar. They have a bowl on one of the shelves. It faces a window into the kitchen, and there's a Morning Dove sitting on a nest in the bowl! I have to get a picture today to post it. They have Robins in the front and I suspect a nest nearby in process from their behavior.
Funny, I have bird houses and planted bushes, put wood piles out for them and my parents don't do any of that. They always have nests! Last year there were BlueJays. Go figure. At least, I get to see them. :)

I think the secret is getting out around here. LOL! I just hate it when I find something that is cheap and works...then everybody else 'discovers' it, too!
Your husband doesn't want to talk about your flowers with you ;).
Oh, he'll talk about the types of flowers to plant, and will happily do hole-digging detail or other manual labor. Asking him a question like "Do you think if we put the red rose bush next to the pale yellow rose bush, would contrast of colors look OK?"
THAT'S when I lose him!

"Asking him a question like "Do you think if we put the red rose bush next to the pale yellow rose bush, would contrast of colors look OK?" THAT'S when I lose him!" LOL! I don't think color coordination is the strong suit of most men. Just look at some of them that dress themselves.

there's a Morning Dove sitting on a nest in the bowl! LOL! Birds pick the strangest places for a nest!
We rented a place one time that had a carport instead of a garage, and a chickadee built a nest in one of the pockets of my husbands fishing vest.
Mr. Tough guy didn't use that vest again until she and her fledglings were gone.

Don't get me started on some of those fugly shirts he had hanging in his closet before we were married, though...yuck! :P

LOL! Mr. Tough-guy and Chickadees. :) I saw some Chickadees here looking at houses. Slow realestate in my yard. No takers. That must have been great fun to watch them nesting.
They do pick the strangest nesting places. My mother had robins in a wreath on her front door one year. We used the back door until they fledged. :)

With all the showers, the bluebonnets are in full bloom!
They've spread quite nicely in the couple of years we've been here, but they have a way to go before they are at the carpet of blue stage.

Some folks probably don't realize it (I know I didn't until recently :)bluebonnets don't really grow in the 'single seed single stalk' pattern like a lot of annuals do.
If the conditions are right, each seed actually forms a small bush with multiple flower heads!

(Just a side note to y'all. I may not be getting in much FReep time after this weekend, and I don't want you to think I'm ignoring you! :)
Reality has finally smacked my brother-in-law upside the head, and he's leaving that thing he married. We're letting him stay here, and guess who volunteered to watch his little 'uns while he works? LOL! Man! It's been 9 years since I've changed a diaper or fed a baby...:)

Mr. Tough-guy and Chickadees
Interesting fact about Chickadees is that they are in the same bird family as Blue Jays. I'd never guess that for many reasons ranging from behavior to appearance.

Your pictures are great to see. That place is near you?
The Dallas Arboretum is about 40 miles from my home in Arlington but I travel all over the Dallas Ft Worth area almost daily. Anything within 100 miles is close in the sprawling DFW area. I'm definitely returning there this Spring to get more quality photos.

Holy Cow, Blue Jay Family. Does that go for the Titmice also? I never knew that. They are one smart little bird! So are the Jays. :)

That's good news! We'll see more pictures! I'm now planting those dark Petunias, verbena with the dusty miller in a pot because of the photo. Those pictures inspired!

Nice BB shots. I see ppl parked on the freeway shoulders here risking their lives to pose in front of them and it astonishes me. They're pleasing aesthetically but not worth getting plowed over by a Hummer.LOL

I wonder if they're the same people who put helmets and knee/elbow/wrist pads on their kids before allowing them to ride their bikes.....

I assume so as Titmice and Chickadees are in the same immediate family grouping, with Blue Jays a little more distant.
