Moratorium on donations to Republicans

Posted on 03/04/2005 10:17:38 AM PST by pjd

I am sick and tired of our so-called Republican leadership. I can't tell you how many calls I get every d*mned day from a whole alphabet soup of Republican organizations. What is this?

They get paid, don't they? They have more money than I do for g*d's sake. Why do they have to call me (and you) every day and ask for money? We voted them into the White House. We voted them into a clear majority in the House. And we voted them into a majority in the Senate.

What's wrong with these people? Why don't they just do their d*mned jobs? If they would only do that, I would personally be happy to send them my very last dollar just to show my support. I know that we would come out of the woodwork, in droves, to vote for them next election. They wouldn't even have to campaign. All they have to do is do what they were elected to do.

We supported them, we voted for them. It's their turn.

I'm not donating one more cent until they get some constitutional judges confirmed.

What is the point of even having a Congress if the judges are going to run things by simply declaring laws? I'm done paying for these idiots until they start doing their job.

The Judicial confirmations are the single most important political issue we have. If they fail to confirm Bush's nominations, it won't matter what Congress does in the future. The Judges will rule.

I propose that everybody (vocally) withhold donations to the Republicans, no matter how much they whine, until they start getting those judges confirmed. They don't need our money to do that. They already have the power to do it. They're getting paid a salary to do it. Let them do it.

I get the same calls and a ton of junk mail with spiffy ID cards, surveys, etc. I'm with you on the judges. Nuclear option be damned - get to it now. I'd also like to see Repubs get in step with private accounts. Bush is losing that one becasue of the chicken-hearted RINOs. They need to be pressured and hard.

I'm inclined to agree.

Because of the determination to ignore Illegal Immigration, I changed to voter registration of Independent, and refuse to donate a cent until Immigration and the travesty in the Courts is addressed.

I figure that most of us are loyal Republicans and keep giving to them even though we complain. So I thought, maybe if we really start holding back the donations while making sure they know it is because of their chicken-attitude,...maybe something will budge.

Nuclear option be damned - get to it now.

I think it was a Republican that coined the phrase 'nuclear option' for what needs to be done to stop the filibusters. That was very unfortunate, because it makes it seem like there is something radical about making a vote possible.

It is the Democrat's filibustering that should be regarded as a nuclear option and the Republican's should be calling for nuclear disarmament.

We lost the sound-byte war on that one. We shot ourselves in the foot.

Don't think the MSM didn't have a hand in that war of words.

I stopped giving to the Republicans a few years ago, when it became aparrent that they didn't plan to do anything about illegal immigration. The number of begging letters I've gotten has slowed way down, and the phone calls have stopped entirely. I would take the solicitations for cash, write my reasons for not donating on them, send 'em back. I guess they don't care what I think, they just want my money.

I see your donation withholding and raise you support for a third party.

I shouldn't play poker I always show my hand, no one ever thinks I'm bluffing.

I hear an awful lot of complaints about this and both the party and its member politicians need to wise up to it.
