Word For The Day, Tuesday, March 2, 2005
03/02/05 | Slip 18

Posted on 03/01/2005 4:44:55 AM PST by Slip18

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Subbie Slip has her whip, handcuffs and legcuffs today.

The rest of the stuff is locked up in my drawer. I’m just letting all the new students know that we behave as if we were ladies and gentlemen in here. Those two words “as if” can get you an A if you make the subbie laugh.

PRESAL

Noun:

PRONOUNCED: Pry/zel

Etymology: Can’t read it.

1) (obs) A seizure (as of goods) under legal or customary privileges.
2) (obs) (a) The action of taking something as the prize of war. (b) Something taken as a prize.

I'll be damned, you're probably right. Good eye, Miss Garden!!

Laura is always well turned out. She is such a breath of fresh air after 8 long years of shrillary. It's obvious why she appeals to you.

Partly that. Also, the eyes. I've become very much an "eye man" (as opposed to a "leg man", etc.) in my old age.

With the NHL season cancelled, Canadians will no longer have the presal of the Stanley Cup.

Hmmmmn.

Ole Slippy can't read the etymology (or geology!) of da word.

Hmmmmmmn.

It must be a twisted spiral, kinda like a prezsalt. Or Hillary's latest political leanings.

oh you poor thing!~ that is one thing i can say about VA, we get snow and then it is done and over with and we move on!

i was out at Wegmans tonight. that is always the hook that gets me to be suckered into taking xsboy out to hockey practice, bc that is where the wegmans is! beautiful produce, a wonderful bakery, and cool stuff. i bought some very pretty beeswax candles for Easter, and a sugar and creamer set shaped like pink lilies with a bee on the lid of the sugar bowl : ) their tabletop area is full of cool stuff!
