Eye to Eye?

You aren’t much bigger than I am. Your tail’s just made of hair.
It’s only your long legs that have you way up in the air.
I’ve seen you running too, you set a rapid pace,
But chasing rabbits means you must be good at about-face!

You seem a friendly sort, so I’ll try to not be rude,
But you seem to not respect just where we stand about our food.
We go about on tiptoe, as carefully we graze,
Because there is a table here, for all our living days.

The rabbits live here peacefully, they have a gentle touch.
Why would you chase them anyway? They do not eat so much.
I see the gift of providence, so generous to me,
To set a table that I roam, so happy and so free.

Yes, it’s a gift you have all right, I see my master’s hand,
He’s given you a chance to be a part of this fair land.
I serve him daily, don’t you know, I am the best friend he has got.
You’ll get a chance to serve him too, but he won’t ask a lot!
