Halle in tears again... for worst actress 14:00pm 27th February 2005 Halle Berry as Catwoman

Catwoman: Claws out for film flop Most Hollywood stars fail to appear at awards ceremonies if they haven't won, but actress Halle Berry surprised the showbiz world by turning-up in person to collect a gong for worst actress.

Berry was named worst actress of 2004 by the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation for her performance in Catwoman and she showed up to accept her "Razzie" carrying the Oscar she won in 2002 for Monster's Ball.

"They can't take this away from me, it's got my name on it!" she quipped. A raucous crowd cheered her on as she gave a stirring recreation of her Academy Award acceptance speech, including tears.

She thanked everyone involved in "Catwoman," a film she said took her from the top of her profession to the bottom.

"I want to thank Warner Brothers for casting me in this piece of s***," she said as she dragged her agent on stage and warned him "next time read the script first."

It is rare for a Razzie winner to show up at the spoof awards held on the night before Oscars - but Berry did, saying her mother taught her that to be "a good winner you had to be a good loser first." She received a standing ovation.

Catwoman tied with Fahrenheit 9/11 by winning four Razzies - worst picture, worst directing, worst screenplay and worst performance by an actress for Berry and her "berry bad" work.

Bush bashing

John Wilson, founder of the nonprofit Golden Raspberry Award Foundation that gives out "Hollywood's least coveted trophies," said Moore's anti-Bush documentary allowed the foundation's nearly 700 members to do some Bush bashing of their own.

The president not only was named worst male actor in a leading role, he also won for being half of the year's worst screen couple when paired with either Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice or "My Pet Goat," the book he was reading to schoolchildren on the morning of September 11.

Footage of Bush continuing to read after being given first word of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon was one of the key scenes in Moore's highly critical film. . Winners receive a golf ball-sized figure of a Raspberry atop a mangled Super 8 film reel that is spray-painted gold. It has an estimated street value of £3, although Wilson said costs were rising as Super 8 film reel cans are getting harder to find.

When you look like this, nobody cares if you can act ...
But you better saves your paychecks now, Ms. Berry, 'cause in 15 years, they might care ...

Exactly. If "Catwoman" would have been a huge success, and Halle's performance in it been lauded, Halle would be singing a different tune. That she chose to handle the Razzie in this way (and again at the expense of others,) speaks volumes of her.

I have loved her acting in other roles--my comments are about how she has shown herself as a person.

We agree it's not important, but it wasn't mentioned in the article, so it rings a little tinny when you rant about it being mentioned too much.

LOL!

I was extremely annoyed by her over-the-top emotional orgasm when she won the Oscar... Because she can laugh at herself like this, she's regained a couple notches in my book.

"That said, I think Halle is one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood."

I agree with you completely, rintense. She is stunning.

Black, Castillian Spanish, etc., etc., Would she be any less an example of perfect feminity at it's finest, if she were to be exposed as an alien from Space? I think not.

And lets never forget the entrance in Die Another Day. My six year old son stopped what he was doing and looked at me. (my wife is half black so this makes more sense) and said mama. I replied "I wish" and got whacked pretty hard.

Interesting since Bush and Rumsfeld never acted in the movie.

Charming how petty the Left can be, huh?

On the other hand, if THEY will admit that F911 was a work of fiction, then I'll accept that Bush was acting.

"My Pet Goat," the book he was reading to schoolchildren on the morning of September 11.

Wrong.. He was not reading out loud to the children... more goofy false liberal BS...

I'm with you on this. Her gutsy appearance, what she did by pulling agent on stage and her comments show she has a great sense of humor.

Now what really would have been interesting is if President Bush was there to collect his award.

"Adding a big name like Berry to the movie seemed a sure thing."

They doubtless did think it a sure thing.

I often wonder why so many people in the movie business don't KNOW that movie making is story telling and in story telling 'it is the tale and the telling of it' that matters and not some hot actress.
