DFU in the doghouse --- did anyone record tonight's AMERICAN IDOL?
DFU | 2-21-04 | DFU

Okay, FReepers, I really did it this time. I have been sick and hacking away for a few weeks. Mrs. DFU went to her knitting class tonight and gave me instructions to tape Channel 11 at 8pm.

I screwed up and woke up at quarter to 9. At least I'll be able to tape 24. She got home and was p*ssed.

Oh, man, did any of you record tonight's AMERICAN IDOL? If you can get me a tape, I owe you big time.

Hey, you Hawaii FReepers haven't seen it yet. Can you help?

I don't recall a MJ impersonator tonight...I do remember that STRANGE 16-year-old girl who was channelling MJ in the audition phase. Whew!

Best guy was the Elvis impersonator.

All 12 kids were really nervous tonight. I like them all.

I had him and the blonde nerdy kid picked out from the auditions to make it all the way through. The Elvis guy needs to branch out a little, though. But he is entertaining and can sing.

Thought the song choices were weak tonight. Too many ballads!

The last one, sounded like MJ when he was 12. Did a good job, but Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder have their own thing.

I didn't get MJ at all from that performance. Hmmmm....I'll think about that a little more....

I told my son tonight that the world doesn't need another Stevie Wonder---we still have the original and he's hard to top.

I quit listening to radio about 3 years ago. It's amazing how much better those good old songs sound once you stop hearing the same 150-200 good old songs over and over.

You keep working your thread DFU, and you'll have success. Might be the pineapple express will deliver. Good luck Bro.

Think Jackson 5 with Michael doing the lead, perhaps late sixties.

Hey, this isn't a thread to discuss music. It is to get me out of the doghouse. :) Come on, stay focused.

Hey, at least each time we discuss the music you get a bump to the top.

Recognize your blessings.

I mourn for the state of popular music today. I listen to talk radio (and the 60's - 80's station whenever Dr. Laura has a particularly 'mature audience only' subject to discuss...I always have kids in the car!).

The thing I like about American Idol is that so many of these kids are singing OLD songs, as if they (or the producers?) instinctively know that the songs today are poorly written and do not showcase the voice effectively.

Get yourself a product called "Airborne" (available at WalMart etc.). Drop the tablet in a glass of water and wait for it to dissolve (like Alka-Seltzer). Then drink the whole glass. You will start to feel a little better within about 2 minutes.

Sorry DFU...

Good luck! I'll check with some of my pals to see if any of them has a tape.
