Resort worker accused of taking scotch bottle worth $3,200

It gives new meaning to the phrase "lifting their spirits."

The theft of a $3,200 bottle of Scotch whisky from the Westin La Paloma Resort & Spa has resulted in a felony charge against a Pima County man.

You heard right: That's one bottle of Scotch, costing about the same as 228 of the 20-bottle packs of Bud Light sold at your local Circle K.

Pima County Sheriff's Department investigators said a resort employee at La Paloma was caught trying to steal a 50-year-old bottle of The Macallan Scotch, imported in a hand-cut crystal bottle.

Even Tucson's tonier resorts don't scratch the highest echelon of Scotch prices.

The Macallan's rarest Scotches range as high as $3,500 per serving at the Borgata casino in New Jersey, which claims to have the world's most expensive collection of hard-to-find, single-malt Scotches.

Buyers of rare Scotch sometimes are given the snifter used to serve the drink, and the container can be kept as a souvenir - a privilege that drinkers of Bud Light long have enjoyed.

At those prices I'd have to resort to theft myself, but for a really fine jug of The Macallan it might be worth the risk!

Sour Mash Man, here, if it tastes like a patch of sod the cat peed on, the cat likely did! Just as soon as My McDougal ancestors got here, they set about learning to make good Whiskey. Plenty of good hardwood, hickory, ash, or oak, don't need to go burning prehistoric dirt! Good Bourbon goes well with any meal! Scotch was made to dissolve Haggis!
