Lance Armstrong says he will aim for a seventh victory this summer. . Armstrong has won the Tour for the last six years. His 2005 racing schedule "will include this summer's Tour de France, where he will go for a seventh straight victory," his team, Discovery Channel, said on Wednesday on its Web site. . "I am grateful for the opportunity that Discovery Communications has given the team and look forward to achieving my goal of a seventh Tour de France," it quoted the Texan as saying. . The announcement ended speculation about whether Armstrong would skip this year's Tour, the biggest in cycling, to focus on other events. . Last year, Armstrong became the first cyclist to win the Tour de France six times. . "I am excited to get back on the bike and start racing, although my condition is far from perfect," Armstrong said in the statement. . Armstrong will start his season with the Paris-Nice stage race in March. He will then compete in the Tour of Flanders on April 3 before defending his title at the Tour de Georgia in the United States later that month, the statement said. . Armstrong added that he and his friend and team manager Johan Bruyneel "will evaluate my fitness later this spring and possibly add some races to the calendar." . Olaf Ludwig, the head of the T-Mobile team which includes Jan Ullrich, a former winner, said he was not surprised by Armstrong's decision. . "I thought he'd race," Ludwig said. Greece To Investigate Doping Blunder

Greek prosecutors have opened an investigation into how a lab blunder allowed Olympic cycling champion Tyler Hamilton escape an alleged blood doping charge.
The American tested positive for a blood transfusion after winning the Olympic time-trial gold medal.
But the result of his B or second test was deemed "non conclusive" after it was discovered the sample had been destroyed by being deep-frozen.
Prosecutors want to determine if the freezing was deliberate or negligent.
The American is also being investigated for failing another test for a blood transfusion during October's Tour of Spain.
He has always denied the doping allegations.
Maybe he will go back to his wife, I have lost all respect for this "rock star". He is just icky to me now.
Hey didn't she come out complaining about Brittany Spears and other young artists that expose their bodies etc..yada yada for attention etc.
He should throw a coat on her when he takes her out.

Grammys provide 'Tales from the Farce Side'

Seriously: It doesn't say particularly good things about the Grammy Awards when more giggles are generated by the live performances than by all the corny banter delivered by the decidedly un-funny host and her self-promoting helpers.
But that's exactly what happened Sunday during the music industry's annual celebration of itself — a plodding pop-music party televised from Los Angeles on CBS, which apparently stands for Can't Be Stopped where the Grammy producers are concerned: The scheduled three-hour broadcast ran 29 minutes long.
"I took a couple of his yellow jerseys and made a dress," brayed Sheryl Crow before presenting an award with her better half, Tour de France champ Lance Armstrong.

There is a sports drug industry of sorts that keeps one step ahead of the testing, which must have standard protocols and be rigorous.
Third, based upon standard protocols obvious positives still cannot be announced if there is any deviation from the pre-set standard pattern accepted to be indicative of a drug. The pattern, though, can be changed a bit by masking or slight modifications of the drug.
And the above comes about from lawyered up atheletes and the like. Positives may not even be announced based on legal or politcal concerns.
For cycling, it is very difficult to ID erythropoietin and when ID does take place, because of the difficulty of the tests, if it isn't picture perfect it may not even be released.
Yeah, well, he left his wife and three little children because he was starstruck with ole Sheryl. I, personally, think he's in love with himself and furthermore, I hope he loses bigtime. Then we'll see how much ole Sheryl really loves him.
