I am.

I'm here with my Mother who has Alzheimer's and she doesn't know that she's here.

You are a fluke of the universe
You have no right to be here

I had a copy of "Desiderata" on the door of my college dorm room. I believed every word it said...35 years ago, tee hee.

I wonder what such patients are thinking or where they 'are' when I was doing my externship for my cna license.

Alone yes, lonely no.

I do miss watching the Red Wings right now, but that's another matter.

Happy Valentine's Day sweetie.

I am away from home and my Valentine. At least she got the Pajamagram I sent.

Ace the paper and know you are loved by those of us on FR who know you well!

Sure didn't mean to put ya under any kind of pressure. ;-)

Sorry to hear about your mother. It's a tough thing to go through.

If it's any concession, I try to live by these words:

I can be miserable by myself, I don't need someone else around to make it worse.

Besides, Valentines day is nothing more than lots of commercials to get you to buy things that you otherwise would probably not buy.

I hope that I don't choke now under all this pressure. ;-)

I bet a Guinness that you don't choke.

Unfortunatly, I can't cause trouble at CPAC this year, so I'd have to pay up in 06

Sorry to hear that. She's in my prayers.

My 80 year old grandmother's fighting cancer right now. It was supposed to be 6 months, and it's been over two years now of (mostly) quality time. Miracles can and do happen.

It's far better to be alone than with a jerk.

You are so right. The most lonely I have ever felt was when I was married to my first husband. He made Bill Clinton look like a Saint.

Tell me about it. Sometimes the muse hits you and other times she beats you like a rented mule.

And you tell her to stop but she just keeps hitting and hitting and then starts throwing lamps and cast-iron skillets and you start thinking that your mother was right about her, but what does your mother know except that you should never get a tattoo in prison, especially a suggestive tattoo because she learned the hard way but she won't talk about it, of course, because that was part of the past she put behind her which you're actually a part of thanks to a one night stand with a midget one-armed sailor which is kind of strange because she lived in Nebraska at the time, which is why she could never hear the word "Lincoln" without screaming, but she could also never hear the word "Omaha" without screaming, either, except that didn't come up as often, or it wouldn't have if she hadn't named your youngest half-sister "Omaha" which everybody in the family thought was strange except for Uncle Minneapolis who had a dog named "Spot" which even Uncle Minneapolis thought was strange because the dog was an albino with the pink eyes and everything, even though the dog never got Pink Eye you were always afraid that he would and you just wouldn't know about it in time and then you'd say "That rotten dog gave me Pink Eye," even though your eye wouldn't change color quite that way, it's just the white part that turns pink but it really itches and you want to scratch it but you can't scratch your eyeball 'cause that's gross and painful and you know you'll put your eye out, but you could never figure out how to put your eye out because it sounds like such a sterile procedure, calmly taking your eye out of it's socket and putting it elsewhere, it's not something I would ever do but then again I'm strange because I'm writing a very uninspired post on FreeRepublic on Valentine's Day.

I wish I knew too. Sometimes she seems to in such a dark mood and depression and other times she's just fine. You'd think at those times that I am the one who's wacked out by the stories I tell of her. She knows that her mind is going.

I try to keep her involved in doing other things -- even crossword puzzles just to keep her from thinking about herself. When she focuses on herself, she gets scared about everything.

no girlfriend, but not lonely.

Particularly since there are not too many out on dates with their significant others on campus anyway.
