I used to have a pair of downy and a pair of red bellied woodpeckers but I have not seen them since Hurricane Isabel a couple years ago. We lost a lot of trees in that storm. We do have a red tailed hawk who makes appearances. He's a beauty in the winter.

I just love watching the backyard birds!

I only saw them in captivity. They are gorgeous.
I hope your Woodpeckers return soon. I have Downey's, Red Bellies and Flickers. Do you put suet out?

A Red-headed Woodpecker is one of the most recent additions to my yard. I saw a Pileated Woodpecker last week. There are several Downy, Snowy and Red-bellied Woodpeckers also.
