The 77th Academy Award have chosen to ignore The Passion of the Christ, one of the most successful motion pictures in the history of film, by acknowledging the movie in only three categories; music, make-up, and cinematography.
Should Christians support the Academy by watching the awards?
Is it time to send Hollywood a message this year by tuning out the awards and turning in one of the lowest viewerships in its broadcast history?
I, for one, would like to see a Christian boycott of the Academy Awards. Let the believers have their voices heard by turning away.
If Caesar turns his back on Christians, let Christians turn their back on Caesar.
I've wondered the same thing myself. Why get indignant about a supposed snub from a group of degenerates?
seriously...last time I went to the movies was five years ago...I'd rather buy a DVD second hand on E-bay then give those dirtbags two cents of my mola!
As for the academy awards- I'd rather sit on the toilet four hours rather then in front of the TV and watch the pampered out-of-touch-with-reality morons, most of whom spent more time in drug rehab then colloge classrooms
You are dead wrong. Mel Gibson refused to promote his film in any way whatsoever for Oscar consideration---this was a Hollywood FIRST. And yet "The Passion" STILL got nominated in 2 major categories and one minor one. Meanwhile Michael Moore promoted the hell out of his film, and Miramax sent slick DVD packages to thousands of Academy members for shlocky consideration. Result: NOTHING. Moore was 100% dissed.
I choose to see the 3 nominations as a victory. And come Easter this year,Gibson could re-release "The Passion" again and make another $100 million. Hollywood can't touch this.
I can't imagine. Christians snub the Academy?! I'd hope most people would just ignore the Academy. Always.
The fact that it was snubbed says nothing about this grand movie, best I've seen in many, many years, but it speaks volumes about the Hollywood ethos and their anti-Christian mentality.
THE WAY IT SHOULD BE DONE....
is to line the route from malibu down the 10 to the theater of the awards with 1000's of families all holding the same sign and show how unsilent our majority is.
It hasn't even crossed my mind to watch the Commie awards in decades, but then I wouldn't care anyway, because I haven't watched a modern release movie in decades. I wouldn't know what the inside of a movie theater looks like, nor the inside of Blockbuster.
I have watched Turner Classic Movies for some while, but find myself watching even that channel less and less as they're going the AMC(Ameican Movie Classics) route and slowly and steadily sneaking in more and more movies from the Seventies,Eighties, and beyond, and sneaking in political commentary via Sidney Pollack and a lot of their guest movie hosts.
I guess I'll be doing more of what I've done for years-buying more movies from places like Nostalgia Family Video,Kino, etc, that sell movies from Hollywood's "golden era" and early talkies and silents-those are the only movies I like anyway, except the Godzilla movies up through the Seventies. I'm in a time warp when people discuss movies from the past few decades, and therefore the Academy Commie awards have meant nothing to me anyway in forever.
I think we need to all go out and rent or buy the Passion this Lent, preferably on Oscar night. That would send another message.
It's almost unfortunate that Mel Gibson stands to profit so handsomely from our declarations of faith. He has feet of clay as do we all. I hope he realizes that all of the largesse he has received is not his, that we were really giving our money to the Glory of God.
Really, I do think he gets it.
That's a good idea.
There are lots of great movies the Academy snubs. And alot of crap that get heaps of Awards.
I've heard that their ratings have been pretty steadily declining over the years anyway, generally. There's so many "awards" shows out there now that none of them mean anything(not that the Academy Awards have for decades, anyway).Probably the Association of the Brotherhood of Dogcatchers gives out a "best movie" award, and who better to recognise the schlock that is produced these days?
I like it.
Great idea.
Spread the word.
Who pays attention to the AA? It is for losers who read People magazine.
You're right. As for me, I'd have to turn it on before I could turn it off. These self-absorbed nincompoops who think they're "important" people make such fools of themselves on such a regular basis that it's tiring.
Too much attention is paid to moronic "entertainers" who are, in fact, nothing more than a collection of minstrels, jugglers and clowns, which would be OK if they didn't pretend to be something else.
Just how is the film "snubbed" when it is nominated for awards, in three categories?
Well, Duuuuhhah!
