Solutions looking for a problem to solve. There is no substitute for common sense and training.

You may not condemn this technology, but I DO! Adding complexity to a firearm reduces it's reliability, and could endanger the life of the user and those under his or her protection.

Most (if not all) gun "accidents" come from violating one or more of the first 3 rules of gun safety.

The only one of these that is even vaguely interesting is the 'chamber indicator', but even that one would contribute to lazy gun-handling practices & therefore, accidents.

"Smart-guns' are just a canard for gun control.

Once someone successfully uses a 'smart-gun' to rob a bank, kill someone, or kill themselves the gun-grabbers will say that this is proof that the only safe gun is no gun at all.

Which is what they already say if you pay attention to them.

Hopefully, there will be no 'gun safety lock' police. I lived in fear for years over removing the tag from my mattress. No one even called. /humor break... :)

I said ."I don't endorse or condemn" the technology.

However, there are many people out there that are careless with their weapons when children may be around and parents not present.

Careless adults require well-trained children. And I did acknowledge (in part) your neutral stance. :^)

Gun Safety = A Loaded .45 ACP. Cocked and Locked in Condition 1.

The web of your thumb and forefinger disengages the Backstrap Safety.

Your thumb comes down on and disengages the Manual Safety.
As the weapon comes up on the target.

Center Mass.

BANG!

BANG!
BANG!

One in the Gut
Two in the Head
Makes a Bad Guy
Good and Dead!

Jack.

If smart-gun technolgy is so great, then police officers should be the first to want to use it. Afterall, many cops are shot by their own weapons. Now do you see the police wanting to use it? NO. If it isn't reliable enough for them, it isn't reliable enough for the rest of us.
