Speaking of characteristic traits cropping up, I don't know that I have ever mentioned something odd about my Old foundation breed quarter horse mare. She gaits when she gets nervous:) Several times I've had people ask what breed of walker is she. She doesn't do it well, it's very rough, but she does gait occasionially.

That's pretty cool.

Bay can Piaffe, ie, trot (or even canter) in place, when he's eager to get going on a ride.
