Free Republic has a lot of horse people that have found each other on other threads…. And since we all like to talk horses, how about a thread where it is not off-topic, but is THE topic?
This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and Becky pings everyone most mornings. Let Becky (Paynoattentionmanbehindthecurtain) and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Thanks! I am a novice at all this horse stuff, but am learning fast! Two new foals in two months. Thank goodness it was warm weather.
I helped raise sheep before but horses are a lot bigger!
I think I have just stopped shaking 24 hrs on! It was an experience!~
Yea the first baby I had was a night of excitment and alot of waiting. After that it got easier. The mare I have now is going to be a little nerve racking because We have only had her about a year and I don't know to much of her history, So it will be a long wait with her.
She was great, shes only 10 but already in sixth grade at school, the youngest as she has been put a year ahead. Smart!
She kept running out to me and running back to post to you all again as i told her you would all be getting frantic! I wanted you to know the foal was ok.........when i was sure he was! I had to rub him down and touch him all over etc and that was scary enough out there in the dark alone with mare and foal. Emma is the reason we got the horses! She is the one whom we have been told many times has a natural seat, even though she has never had formal lessons.
Well she sounds like a real sweety:)

I was glad the begining photos came out ok. All i had was a flashlight which was dying and some second light from the workshop!~

Ladies, it's been a nice evening:), maybe not as exciting as last night, but I'm out of here. I swear watching JP is harder work then I remember kids being.

Hi. This is Emma. Mom said that you all said thank you for letting you know what was hapning. It was fun. It was funny when someone asked me if it had 4 toes. I had to run from the field in the dark up to the house.
I was hoping it would be a girl and i wanted to call it Bella. Jacob named him Thunder because of his daddy. He looks very sweet and I have touched him. He has one white hoof. I have to go now because it is my bedtime. Goodnight.
