Jim Robinson says we should find a reason to go there in the spring. He didn't do much sightseeing. The snow really slowed him down.

Great plan! Turbojet and I want to take another trip to DC in the Spring to do the sightseeing we didn't get to do this last time. I want to go when the cherry trees are in bloom. April, I think? Anyone know for sure?

The AAA tour book says:
"A burst of pale pink flowers begins one of the city's most cherished events. The National Cherry Blossom Festival in early April blah blah. The more than 6000 cherry trees that line the Tidal Basin near the Thomas Jefferson Memorial are illuminated at night during their approx weeklong blooming season so their delicate beauty is always visible."

Looks like April is the time to visit.

Jen, I can tell you for a fact that no one for a fact knows when they'll bloom -- it varies every year. Late March to early/mid April: they schedule the Cherry Blossom festival for the most likely times, but one never knows for sure.

Still, Washington is great that time of year: temperatures typically in the high 50s to high 60s.
