I like hockey and used to go to Stars games when I lived in Dallas. The comparison to soccer is kind of offensive. When did you ever see a bunch of soccer players in the corner beating the daylights of each other with sticks?

Well, that's a fair criticism. It's far faster and more violent than soccer, and I do marvel at the skill of the players to handle the puck as well as skate backwards.
But for pure violence, we have the NFL and NASCAR. I just suspect that most diehard hockey fans played the game at same point in their lives. I could be wrong.
