Oh, how sad! It's awful to lose lovely things, but it's worse to lose things that belonged to our parent and grandparents. Did the movers "lose" some boxes? Or did you have movers?
Yes I've see things like that
Sorry .. I just can't pee standing up *L*
I must confess that I've never tried it. And it's not on my list of things to do.
No, not to movers. I went through a series of losses when I first moved to Arkansas. Long story. I ended up having to start almost entirely from scratch. Sadly, I have my daughter to thank for that particular loss.
Sorry to hear that. Moving is hard enough. I never had much nice stuff until I got married - it just wasn't really important to me. My mom bought me the beautiful china, and I'm giving some thought to buying some crystal stemware. I now have a few pieces of nice furniture.
Some times I wish I had lost stuff so I would not have to decide what to depart with!
It seems the universe made that decision for you!
It's a slow process getting the things I need now. I'm really wanting to get some nice furniture. The furniture I have in the living room is good quality, but it isn't really what I want. It would be great for the extra room though. I'd love to put a nice, comfy sectional in the living room, but that just isn't high on the priority list right now. I did buy a nice rocker. It's not the big log one that I have really wanted, but it's nice. I haven't seen the big log ones here. I'm going to need to buy a car before summer, so I am trying to plan for that. That means I am going to have budget pretty tightly on other some things for awhile.
France intensifies search for missing reporter
PARIS, Jan 19 (AFP) - France has stepped up its efforts to obtain information about the whereabouts of a reporter who went missing in Iraq two weeks ago, but so far has no news, a government spokesman said Wednesday.
"All efforts are being undertaken to multiply all contacts on the ground in order to pick up the trail of Florence Aubenas. It's true that for now, we have no news," spokesman Jean-Francois Cope told reporters after a cabinet meeting.
Aubenas, a 43-year-old senior correspondent for the French daily Liberation, left her Baghdad hotel with her translator Hussein Hanun al-Saadi on January 5, and neither has been seen or heard from since.
Chirac has since warned French journalists
to stay out of Iraq, saying their safety cannot be ensured.
Two other French reporters, Georges Malbrunot of Le Figaro newspaper and Christian Chesnot of Radio France Internationale, were released by insurgents in Iraq on December 21 after being held hostage for four months.
Goodnight
I hope you are able to get those things you treasure!:)

Ah, the life of a school teacher-up at 5, into the shower by 6, and this morning a phone call at 6:05 telling me that we have a 2 hour delay due to snow, and I don't have to teach economics to my "favorite" class today.
This, and the Innauguration of Dubya------boy is it a grand day!!!
How's the snow sitch there for all the excitement?
Oh...by the way, what goes on between five and six? ;)
OKers.
Be careful out there.
Lots of idiots on ice out there today.
The Phantom of the DD Thread is there, inside the post.
Now grannie, you wouldn't want me to kiss and tell, would you?
Sounds messy to me.
What time is the inauguration? I need to try and plan my day around it. Isn't it around lunchtime?
