You mean, to provide the REQUIREMENT that you die when you become inconvenient to have around...

No, I mean to be so horrible that people will demand Congress allow those who chose to die to have active euthenasia instead of dieing this way.

The churches and right to life people are trying to roll back the right to have any type of life support stopped. To make it illegal to 'pull the plug' in any way for any reason.

For me, A WOMAN SHOULD:

Be able to hook up the gooseneck to the truck,
Be able to catch and saddle her own horse,
Jump horse in trailer, (see above),
Go do a good day's work a horseback.

Isn't that precisely what you have been pushing for?

But, given the vehemence with which he has been fighting to prolong Terri's life, it is a little surprising to learn that Robert decided to turn off the life-support system for his mother. She was 79 at the time, and had been ill with pneumonia for a week, when her kidneys gave out. "I can remember like yesterday the doctors said she had a good life. I asked, 'If you put her on a ventilator does she have a chance of surviving, of coming out of this thing?'" Robert says. "I was very angry with God because I didn't want to make those decisions."

This does not say whether or not she was brain dead. That detail needs to be included.

Yes, quite incoherent. You cannot tell the difference between the natural death of a dying woman, and killing one who is not terminally ill.

Doesn't matter, this is the man who swore in court under oath that he would cut Terri's arms and legs off and put her on a ventilator to keep her going.

Hello folks. I've wanted to post more lately, but I've had such bad internet connection for the past week that I've barely been able to get on-line at all....grrrrr!

Much better right now, so will hurried post my Happy Easter to everybody. I can attest to the cooling down of the weather in Texas over the past day....quite a change but it is supposed to warm up again in the next days.

We will leave here and head up toward Ft. Worth for a couple of days then on to our next stop for customer visits.

Will leave you with the song from some years back:

"Has Fort Worth ever,
Has Fort Worth ever,
Has Fort Worth ever, CROSSED YOUR MIIIIIND?"

Heh. Prairie

Quite a lot of conversation on the Terri Schavio case. Here we are in day 10..finally that jerk of a "husband" gave an ok for her to have communion on Easter..most likely a move to gain him a favorable point.

I went to the website and read the depostions..seems at one point MS said they never discussed the life support issues..they were only in the early 20s...This guy is 'Pond Scum and so is his brother Scott. He has wanted her dead since I think she mentioned she wanted a divorce. I would bet a dollar to doughnut hole he beat her nearly to death.
In one deposition the police report said Terri was found face down..he kept saying face up. On top of that he has said he found her when he came home from working late. And at other times he said he heard a thump and got up and found her...early morning hours after they had kissed each other goodnight...his stories do not match over time.

I watched my mom starve to death from Alzheimers..it took 11 days from the day that things started to really go bad for her..At least we were able to do things for her for some comfort..ice chips, some ensure ( not much), and lotion on her very dry skin....only when she lapsed into a coma did she look peaceful..before that she looked as if she were in discomfort..we could hear her tummy growl...she would be restless...there was not the peace and euphoria the lawyer Felos claims to see..He is demented too.

Seems to me, where there is natural breath ( meaning without a respirator) there is natural life, feeding tube notwithstanding. MS and the Pontius Pilot judges in his corner are getting away with murder.

Stiev dear you are in the wrong camp......you really should look into Global Ethic they agree with so many things you Champion!

I a sure you SO9 Biothics is working to make you desire a law!

Ghos isn't it great they have such comfort in their TERMS like-

Ethic so you think of fiduciary

Of or relating to a holding of something in trust for another: a fiduciary heir; a fiduciary contract.

Of or being a trustee or trusteeship.
Held in trust.
Of or consisting of fiat money.
Of, relating to, or being a system of marking in the field of view of an optical instrument that is used as a reference point or measuring scale.

Another good TERM Human Rights, Dignity only instead of meaning the RIGHT TO LIVE it is an opporitnity to persaude one to exit this planet or terminate by consenct of a inconvient spouce, parent, child maybe even neighbors! Included could the the defective being be it mental or deformed,an of course the disable!

The day will soon be here to be free of EYE SORES, MORONS ETC!

One World: The Ethics of Globalization

GLOBAL ETHIC

Definition
Human Rights
Religious and Cultural Influences in Medical Ethics
Definition
Often times, in the US at least, we tend to have a narrow view of what is accepted in terms of medical customs. Bioethical issues are complicated enough within one cultural setting, so holding a globally-consistent view on bioethics is almost impossible. Along with the globalization of economies, we have seen a globalization of medical care. In 1995, a worldwide conference on genetics and ethics was held over the internet! While such advances have countless benefits, they also reveal the bioethical differences we have embedded within our cultures.

A number of topics have developed around this issue:

Human Rights
China, Pakistan, the former Yugoslavia, Singapore, the United States - all countries that have been accused of abusing or disregarding the "human rights" of their citizens. What are human rights and why are they important to discussion of bioethics? Human rights have been delineated in various official documents, from the US Constitution’s Bill of Rights to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR was established by the United Nations in 1948, and it served to protect certain inalienable or natural rights. It establishes that all people are born free and equal. Based upon this belief, the charter goes on to outline various other rights.

What does this have to do with bioethics? The UDHR mentions health and well-being in various articles. In general, it claims that all people have the right to complete care and adequate protection from sickness and suffering. Article 5 states that no one shall be subjected to any form of cruel and unusual punishment. Article 25 gives special consideration to motherhood and childbearing – it states that mothers and their children have the right to special protection. What about China’s birth control policies? Are these standards of medical care unethical in the eye of the global community? Let’s not forget the US Congress’s recent move to reform the American system of welfare. Many women are going to be forced to work even though they cannot afford adequate child care. Is this a violation of Article 25 of the UDHR?

Yes, I've seen some of the conversations and confrontations that occured on the Schiavo threads here. I avoided posting on them too much, the situation is painful and sad enough without fighting amongst ourselves here.

I keep hoping that some good will come of this, like stronger boundaries for judges, check and balances on the juidicary etc. I keep hoping anyway.

I don't think it is surprizing and this is net picking!

This was the proper way when the Kiddney gave out?

You are being silly and blind to not recognized the difference!

Yeah, but that was probably, almost certainly, possibly because he beat her around the kidneys to kill her.
