Hmmmmmmmmmmm... personally I think he's FOS. I don't know much, but I'm not too fond of him. Me thinks he protests too much. ;)

That could be, but I guarantee that congress passing an instant law based on this case is gonna screw up the lives of tens of thousands of people every year. Cases like the one in Al's family where one of the kids objected are all gonna be in court for years.

I agree Swerv. Just let the government get involved and see what happens. It's not good.

Al's Sis only lasted a matter of hours after they pulled the plugs and gave her the morphin. She wasn't dying of the cancer yet.

In her case it didn't take long, but she was a vegetable compared to Terri.

MY BROTHERS, SISTER AND I HAD TO MAKE THE DECISION TO TAKE MY MOTHER OFF THE VENTILATOR AFTER TWO WEEKS. SHE WENT INTO RESPIRATORY ARREST DURING HOSPITALIZATION FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT OF A DISK AND COULD NOT BE WEANED. IT WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT DECISION OF MY LIFE AND ONE THAT I STILL QUESTION EVEN AFTER FIVE YEARS.

I LEARNED A LOT OF THE CHARACTER OF TWO OF MY SIBLINGS. THEY WORRIED CONSTANTLY THAT THE MEDICAL BILLS WOULD EAT UP HER SAVINGS WHICH SHE HAD WILLED TO US.

I wish I could touch that place in you Swerv where compassion lives....

it is not weakness to embrass charity it is on the side of life, it is on the side of the godly!

We all make mistakes we are just as important as the World Mortal Gate Keepers.....Which have failed their positions,
in recent years be it in field of medicene, or media, etc.

This probationary state is temporary..... but your spirit is eternal and the decision made during your time here on earth will haunt you or reward you forever!

Your attitude seems void give an ere of indifferents to another and you and I and all of us have a universal vote with in our hearts and minds to show how we treat one another
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1365553/posts?page=34#34

It may well be true Terri made a couple of mistakes but now she is now trapped in limbo, and the only advocate that seem to make decisions for her is one who seems to have a conflict of interest!

Living Wills are just like Wills, Savings accounts, and insurrance, many have a hard time in thinking about them especially when one is young!

At this point in the scheme of things, it is not so much about Terri Schiavo because she will, when gone from this earth rest in the arms of her Lord......but of the character and direction of this Great Nation!

Today we are a beacon to the world!

What about to tomorrow.........

Sighhhhhhhhh... please don't denigrate Swerv. He's a man, and a good one.

You don't have to be highly religious to be good. Our conscience can also be our guide, and we all have the right to our own opinions, whether right or wrong in others eyes. ;)

I hope we always have that right.

I too have trouble with how things are done and feel ignorant and maybe most of America in many of these situation....

When my husband died I was trying to recover from breast cancer, needing knee replacements and still today only have a limimted of my vigor I must pace my self or I get set backs also I was trying to work and be his health care taker.

Now that I look back I see both of us were in a low state of depression only at the time you don't recognized it let alone aware of such thing!

he was suffering with congestive heart and the last time he came out of the hospital he seemed weaker than when he went in!

he came home from hosptial in May 01 - (85 going on 86 b.Oct 05 01) returned to hospital in (Nov 18 01) and died (Dec 06 01)

I was told many things in his last stay he needed rehab, he was dying etc. and he was coming home after rehab etc.

I signed one of those living wills with the understanding in my mind anyways if he had an heart attack and ended up as a veg not to resuscitate......(he was very independant and like doing for himself) he seem to be improving a little bit an I was under the impression from the doctor he was going to rehab and than come home.

I found out later they had him on depression meds He love to teach music/sightsing and when he could not teach any more and his eyes could not read and a hard time reading his mystery books and I think he could not see baseball etc his quality of his had really took a toll!

He never had an heart attact but some where in between took him off of IV and let him die even while they are telling me he was to be going to rehab the next day a place closer to me and than return home, during that night he died!

It was a shock and yet as I look back there were so many mixed messages!

I was really wore out and not thinking too clear maybe it was for the best but I will never really know if it was natural or speeded up!

I must say they did give him somekind of special drink so he would not choke when swallowing and those sponges to moisten his mouth an he seem comfortable only I felt in the dark as to what was going on.....listening and reading about this Schiavo case made me wonder why I keep getting mixed messages from various doctors and those concern!

I strongly think people should be well verse in those Living Will things and should be done with the help of a lawyer!

I will always love him and someday we will be togather again!

Smooooooooooooooooch...I think I understand. It sounds very much like my Dad's death, and my Mom's too in fact. I think they give all of us mixed messages, and just bow out and say what they think we want to hear. Most times we aren't prepared for the shock.

Life can be a bitch, and dying can't be any picnic. Sounds harsh, but I think we've all had our rough spots, and we're surely looking at more of them.

I do hope you get all fixed up, and also get all your wishes. Good people deserve good breaks once in a while.

Just had a cocktail, so had better shut up, and get back to cooking..;)

Just because I say I wish I touch that place or to awaken etc.

I am not talking about religion I am talking about compassion!

Even an athiest, non believers, luke warm etc have compassion!

Deep awareness of the suffering of another coupled with the wish to relieve it.

You don't have to be religious to know that ther is somekind of Universal justice!!

you touch a hot stove you get burned, you go against a light and there could be justice etc.

I am sure Swerv is a good person what does that have to do with recognizing another journey?

Why is it whenever I speak of these things it always have to be filed under Religon????

Religion does not claim to have monopoly on awarness!

Universal Laws or the "Law of Justice" has the final say....the role of religion especially the Christian Religion paid the ransom or the atonement so the "Law of justice" could not lay claim to those who are under its umbrella...but that is religion....I am talking about "Empathy Identification with and understanding of another's situation, feelings, and motives.
