Cape manhunt leads to capture of armed teen

A 17-year-old from Jackson, Tenn., was apprehended Tuesday night following an hourlong pursuit, most of it on foot, after he crashed his pickup truck into a utility pole on Belleridge Pike near Lexington Avenue, according to Cape Girardeau police.
Police received a bulletin from Tennessee authorities around 8:25 p.m. Tuesday advising authorities that the suspect had taken 10 weapons from his home along with the truck he was driving, said Cape Girardeau Lt. Roger Fields.
Fields said the teen was reported as a runaway and may have been looking for relatives in the Cape Girardeau area. Because he is considered a juvenile in Tennessee, his name has not been released. His identity may be released today after Missouri charges are filed, Fields said.
Police caught up with the suspect following a trespassing complaint, Fields said. He reportedly tried to elude officers in the 3000 block of Kenneth Street. He fled onto Belleridge Pike and crashed the truck he was driving into a utility pole in the 2200 block. Fields said he also struck another vehicle on Belleridge Pike.
The suspect then left the truck and took off on foot in a wooded area near Belleridge Pike and Lexington Avenue. Police found seven weapons in the vehicle, an assortment of handguns and rifles. Fields said the suspect later told police that there was an eighth firearm, which has not yet been located.
Fields said it is unknown if there actually were 10 weapons in the truck as reported by Tennessee authorities.
Police also found a sheath for a knife in the vehicle, but have not yet found the knife.
Troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and deputies from the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department joined in the search.Fields said a trooper initially spotted the suspect, but lost track of him. Fields brought in a thermal imaging device, but it was old-fashioned sniffing that prevailed.
"If we had gone an other 100 yards I would have had him," he said.
Instead patrolman Roy Rahn and his dog, Bolo, soon picked up the chase and caught the suspect.
"The dog picked up the scent and tracked him until he was located," Fields said. The dog was able to pick up the suspect's scent from a lost shoe, police said.
Bolo and the other officers tracked the suspect for about a mile before he was finally caught at 9:33 p.m., Fields said. The teen was unarmed at the time he was apprehended and offered no resistance.

Oh jeese..
You okay?
They didn't do any damage to anything on their trip through did they?
Was that a kid of yours barking?
Hey y'all. I don't know if you guys get WNDS or not, but if you get the Ellen DeGeneris show this afternoon around four PM, check it out for her Dancing with Ellen part.
Gary sent a video in with the kids and they played it this morning. I guess they didn't even let Gary know that they had chosen it, and tell him when it was being played. I have to check and see if I get the show or even have that channel.
I never watch Ellen.........lol
LOL!
When she was a comedian who happened to be gay, she was pretty funny.
Now that she's a gay who happens to be a comedian, she's well, gay.

Jane Fonda has revealed she was forced to participate in sexual threesomes against her wishes by former husband Roger Vadim.
The Hollywood actress claims the late French director, who she married in 1967 before divorcing him in 1973, bullied her into having sex with other women throughout their marriage.
Fonda, who pioneered the home exercise video revolution, says on one occasion French director Vadim even ordered a red-haired prostitute from an escort agency to fulfill his sexual fantasies.
The 67-year-old star makes the shocking claims in her new autobiography, 'My Life So Far', which will be published in the US next month.
In the book, Fonda says her husband constantly badgered her into finding other women they could both have sex with, asking her to assume the personality of the prostitute character she played in 1971 movie 'Klute' - a performance which earned her an Oscar.
She writes: "For me to be with Roger Vadim, that meant bringing other women into our bed. It seems shocking that I did that, but I managed to convince myself that it was fine, that it was what I wanted despite the fact it was killing my heart."
Fonda - who had one daughter, Vanessa, with her husband, who passed away in 2000 - also blames the "cruel and misogynistic"
Vadim for the eating disorders she battled throughout her life.
She adds: "I ceased eating except for crusts from his bread and rinds from his camembert."

She was "forced"? hmmmm.... I have to admit I have had men strongly suggest that I do such things, and I refused every time. You can say no. Poor helpless widdle Janey.
The sign of a hasbeen = lesbian confessions.
It was completely unnecessary in her case. There isn't anyone who doesn't already know she's a hasbeen... if they know of her at all.
Yes... and now she is blaming him for her eating disorder. I wonder what she has on Ted Turner
It's so disgusting ... yet so typical of feminazis. To claim all of this great power of womanhood and our unquestionably wise decisions about "Our Bodies, Ourselves" and the right to slaughter our own unborn babies... but not the good judgement to eat sensibly or say no to sexual perversions or take responsibility for our own lives when a nasty old husband can be blamed --- especially one who is now dead. Her faux bravery in coming forward will get her nothing more meaningful than applause from Oprah's audience.
Janey, try walking in my shoes. You don't know the meaning of victimhood, toughness, marriage, regret, sorrow and hardship --- all without fame, fortune and a big book deal. You can't handle it.

Gives new meaning to auditioning for the couch director!
Hey! she got the part....
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER!!
Senate Votes to Open Alaskan Oil Drilling
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050316/D88S8V081.html
WASHINGTON (AP) - Amid the backdrop of soaring oil and gasoline prices, a sharply divided Senate on Wednesday voted to open the ecologically rich Alaska wildlife refuge to oil drilling, delivering a major energy policy win for President Bush.
The Senate, by a 51-49 vote, rejected an attempt by Democrats and GOP moderates to remove a refuge drilling provision from next year's budget, preventing opponents from using a filibuster - a tactic that has blocked repeated past attempts to open the Alaska refuge to oil companies.
Still, "this is a big step," said Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska, who said he had tried for 24 years to open the refuge, but failed because Democrats blocked the effort through filibusters. The budget is immune from a filibuster, meaning drilling supporters will need only a majority - not the 60 votes required to break a filibuster - to succeed when the issue comes up for final action later this year.
The Alaska refuge could supply as much as 1 million barrels day at peak production, drilling supporters said. But they acknowledge that even if ANWR's oil is tapped, it would have no impact on soaring oil prices and tight supplies. The first lease sales would not be issued until 2007, followed by development seven to 10 years later, Interior Secretary Gale Norton said.
"We won't see this oil for 10 years. It will have minimal impact," argued Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., a co-sponsor of the amendment that would have stripped the arctic refuge provision from the budget document. It is "foolish to say oil development and a wildlife refuge can coexist," she said.
