He was being accused of rape to a former corporate girl friend who after 7 years broke it off
As I see it he felt if he was convicted of rape he would have no rights to his child! I don't know but no know one knows why he snaped and killed and escaped!

She used her head a heck of alot more than the PD did apparently.
Considering the comedy of errors they did that let him escape, I dunno if it was due to Nichols being herded towards someone who could tell him about God, or simple gross negligence on the PD's part.
Many strange things happen on this planet, and not all of it makes sense to us.
My point is that this might have been avoided.....
