Lots of people have good stories, but it's a very hard sell to get a publisher and sales.
A story that has already had TV exposure on the news and talking head shows is an easy sell both to publishers and public. One book like that can bring in enough cash to let anyone with a reasonable lifestyle retire.

To: nicmarlo
I heard there have been other CPS cases here that have aroused media interest.

Sounds like you could use an evening out like hubby and I had last Friday - Bourbon tasting at Bo's Barbeque in Lafayette. We had at LEAST 12 different bourbons, served with chick, brisket, and ribs. My oh my. It was good.

If you ever make it out to the left coast, give me a call, and I'll take you to Bo's. I don't know if it's anything like the barbeque you are used to, but we sure like it.

why so much interest there? is it because it's so outrageous or because of the locale?
To: nicmarlo
Luck of the draw, I suppose. There was a situation a few years ago involving a white supremacist group. Also, a few years ago, there was another case invoving some whacked out meth heads with a hit list, and they actually succeeded in getting the first person on the list. One of my co-workers was on the list.

I told her if she makes it to the left coast, I'll take her to Bo's BBQ in Lafayette. Delicious chicken, brisket to die for, terrific ribs. Lots of alcohol. I don't know about blue thingys, thought. I don't think they do mixed drinks there.

lovely place you are in, sl! : ) (I have no doubt that that happens across America....very sad, actually, what the culture of our times is like.)
To: nicmarlo
Actually, it mostly is a lovely place. I guess it's just that in my line of work, I see the most dysfunctional and criminal among us, and those are the ones I tell you about. Seems like with most of them, CPS and the courts have a revolving door. Of course, a lot of them are yankees and Californians, most of whom fled their own states to avoid the same kinds of situations. What they don't seem to get is that certain behaviors attract the attention of decent people, so they will always end up in the same situation no matter where they go unless they make some changes in their lives.

But that would mean they would have to admit they have a problem! (and for some, that would be even harder than moving across the country multiple times : )
To: nicmarlo
You'd be amazed at the things that are somebody else's fault. Really. There are certain people, to hear them tell it, never had a single choice of their own in their entire lives, so have been completely at the mercy of the vindictive whims of others. That's really pretty egocentric when you think about it. They fancy themselves so significant in the overall scheme ot theings, that they think the rest of us have nothing better to do than to think up ways to make thier lives miserable.
Well, gotta go back to the nut house. Keep us in your prayers!
