Dunno, I'll ask him.

I had my Lasik done in TJ. Personal recomendation by a friend. Dr. Mendez has far more experience than any American Dr. and did a great job.

He also did Stevie Nicks. (Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind doing Stevie Nicks...)

The question for civilization is how to harness the horsepower of men for useful purposes without letting them engage in their preferred sports: butchery, burning, the sacking of cities, and armed robbery.

This is tricky because testosterone has no moral component. Men are happy spending long hours designing a robotic surgical suite to save lives, or working together in groups to send men to the moon. They are equally happy designing a new and better tank, or in bombing cities. Building the Parthenon and burning Hamburg enchant them equally. How to encourage the one while discouraging the other?

Men can be civilized at the local or neighborhood level. Well-bred and preferably educated males, whether in Switzerland, Fukuoka, or the white suburbs of Washington, go to work, invent things, try to better the world, and only very occasionally kill each other. Boys, if raised to be gentlemen, usually will be. Of course this only works if women are ladies. It comes down to a society’s instilling, and insisting on, high standards of behavior.

One, of many things that I like about Mexico, is the fact that if you can half-way pronounce a drug's name, and have the necessary funds, you can purchase it.

Continue having a ball down there.

We had a storm of the century thing last night. It's been raining here incessantly, just like in CA. It's been a wonderful winter - a nice change, lots of overcast days. But, last night, I had to shut the computer down, etc. when a winter thunderstorm started (very unusual).
THEN, the hail storm started.

Thank goodness we have a new roof. Mainly, I was hiding under the bed with all the cats :) It was the most ferocious hail I've ever heard. Afterwards, the street and our yards looked like there was snow everywhere.

This morning, the sun is out and things are melting (didn't even have time to save my potted flowers - hope they make it). Overall, what a great earth cleansing. Our trees are now rid of old leaves, seeds, and ten-year old dust!

I didn't do it.
Though I did wonder when some nice sized storms were coming.
We were supposed to get a thunderstorm last week.
It fizzled before it got here and rained instead.
:(

Hahhahha! Have you seen The Grudge? I shouldn't have watched a horror movie by myself last night, don't know why I do that to myself. It was a great one though.

Prairie, thanks for your trip updates. I really enjoy them.

I'd be very interested in your description of the place you are staying. Evidently it is more than than the usual RV campground?

Do you remember when it was that way here in the USA? Sure, you had to have a prescription, but that was yours forever to refill at will, without having to see or call a doctor again.

I remember that I was working as a pharmacist clerk in 1966 when we had to start telling folks the bad news. And they were surely irate.

Yes, and I also remember being able to call up your family doctor, tell him your ailment, and he would phone in the 'scrip to the local drug store.

I miss those days.

It's gun show weekend here, so I'm off to check it out.

Cheers, everyone.

"The customs office coming back over asked everybody passing if they were a US citizen and you had to present a drivers license. That was it."

Gee, just think how much more convenient border crossings will be for illegals who want to go home for visits and such to get back in, once they have their American driver's licenses. No more dangerous night crossings in the desert, and if they work it just right, they can borrow licenses from their friends when they go so they can easily get a few dozen of their closest relatives in with them.

Drive by post to say Howdy
Kids are still sick and now the dang dog is too .. grrr

Here's an email joke that dad in law sent

If you want someone who will bring you the paper without first tearing it apart to remove the sports section
Buy a dog.

If you want someone willing to make a fool of himself simply over the joy of seeing you
Buy a dog.

If you want someone who will eat whatever you put in front of him and never says its not quite as good as his mother made it
Buy a dog

If you want someone always willing to go out, at any hour, for as long and wherever you want
Buy a dog.

If you want someone who will never touch the remote, doesn't care about football, and can sit next to you as you watch romantic movies
Buy a dog.

If you want someone who is content to get up on your bed just to warm your feet and whom you can push off if he snores
Buy a dog

If you want someone who never criticizes what you do, doesn't care if you are pretty or ugly, fat or thin, young or old, who acts as if every word you say is especially worthy of listening to, and loves you
unconditionally, perpetually
Buy a dog.

But, on the other hand, If you want someone who will never come when you call, ignores you totally when you come home, leaves hair all over the place, walks all over you, runs around all night and only comes home to eat and sleep, and acts as if your entire existence is solely to ensure his happiness...

Then...................................

My friend, Buy a cat

(You thought I was talking about men didn't you!)

Man, that's the truth: my ammo folks had already sold out of their locally loaded .45ACP rounds...the first time I've ever seen that happen. The lady said that buyers were getting a thousand rounds a pop this weekend.

Now I feel guilty.
Yoda does care. When I get home he is right there to greet me when I open the car door. He is the welcoming committee kitty. And when I open the apartment door, Saki is right there to say Mew.

My cat only cares whether I'm impaired too much to feed her.
And if I am impaired too much to feed her, she then considers whether I'm impaired enough for her to be able to 'take down'...
