The amazing thing is, for as tall as I am, my feet aren't that *large*. And, for what it's worth, my husband is both shorter and younger than I am. :)
You married a hobbit?
Um, no, he's not THAT short. I'm just under 6' tall, so being shorter than I am doesn't necessarily qualify one for hobbithood. :) Plus, his feet aren't that hairy.

Oh, yeah. The Super Bowl is today. That means I can go to the grocery store this afternoon after the game starts, and have it almost all to myself!
Yes, I'm sure you are right; I never realized that phenomenon was so wide-spread. For someone my height and shoe size though, I've just about never been able to wear shoes for style and fashion - they don't make them for mutants like me :)
It is badly fitting high heels that cause trouble. Very few people have an exactly standard size and shape foot. If you have shoes made, like custom cowboy boots are made, to follow exactly the shape of your foot, you can wear high heels without any problems.

It would be fun to go to Nordstrom with you one day. I did luck out at the one in Scottsdale over New Year's and found several pairs. I'm pretty sure I did some other screwy things with my foot besides shoes (because 99% of my life I've worn some sort of comfortable cushioned flats or clunky non-heeled shoes). Or, it's that hereditary thing...
Nice one!
I'm afraid I'm old-fashioned and don't believe in women being in combat.
That's what my husband said until they became mutated and deformed. Hahhhaha, just kidding.
I served with a few women, and they were fine soldiers.
They were mostly admin, but a few were medics and similar disciplines.
I don't think women in combat is a good idea, but if you're going to put them there you have to expect that sort of insanity.
Apparently, no-one thought of that back then.
Mutated and deformed would be my hairy toes and the flattened out arch on my right foot due to busted foot.
;-)
lol!
You won't ever see me out on the beach due to said hairy toes.
I get odd looks and comments.
That, and since I broke my foot, finding shoes that fit is a chore.
Yikes! But, you can still wear those cool Cavalry boots?
Actually the only thing that fits comfortably besides my super soft and squishy Saucony sneakers.
Broke my foot during Basic and AIT at Fort Sill, and did a 10 kilometer road march on a busted foot.
Had no idea it was broken, thought I'd just sprained it.
They stuck a cast on my foot that came up to my knee.
"Aggressive immobilization" they called it.
Thing weighed 26 pounds.
And I was frantic to get that cast off as soon as possible.
I'd wanted to continue training like everyone else, and since they couldn't keep me in the barracks they let me train.
Had to after the fourth time I'd beaten the entire battery to the mess hall while on crutches.
This after having made three appearances where everyone else was at when they'd thought they'd 'locked me in' at the barracks.
Famous exchange from the motor pool, "Keller, I thought you were back at the barracks? Aren't you on profile? How'd you GET here anyway?!"
My reply, "Drill Seargent, I was. Yes, Drill Seargent. Magic, Drill Seargent."
Priceless to see your DrillSar throw his hands up in frustration and make a dozen phone calls to find out what to do with you, while you're sneaking off into the back of the vehicle to continue training.
God I loved artillery.
Because of the jinx Sharky's call is for a close one.....Sharky is only good at college foosball prognostication.......
