Glad you enjoyed the Dixie Pig, Prairie, and I'm glad you're enjoying the south, although, when I go to Little Rock, I feel the way you do about Chicago and the big cities up north. Up here in the rural communities it is much more neighborly (although we do have a few "colorful" neighbors).

The sun is out!! It's 54°!
The computer is working pretty well, except Mr. Prairie isn't able to build the network between our computers for some reason like he usually does. That allows us to use our printer, synch files etc. wireless like we do at home. But somehow this wifi system isn't allowing that.
Hubby uses a wireless bridge to boost his signal and increase his speed. The regular wireless cards don't work so well in RV's with all the metal around, (slow signal, dropped signal etc). Yesterday we bought a USB wireless adapter for my 'puter too which helped the highspeed greatly. I have Rush streaming on my 'puter as I type.
We each pay $2 per day for the wireless through the campground. That buys us an ID and password to log onto the system with and that password expires after 24 hours. Then we go pay another $2 each and get a new password etc.
We really find we need the usb adapter (about $35 cost) or the bridge to boost the wireless signal. When we get down to S. Texas we will have cable modem and that will be interesting as we haven't ever used that in the RV for computer although use for cable TV a lot. Right now I'm running 11 mbs. The computer says the signal is low, but I'm streaming Rush and have 3 other IE windows open. So I'm pushing it pretty good.
Hubby has his computer up and quotes on a seperate monitor. He always has a bunch of windows open so he's pushing it too. The service is really fairly good. I'm surfing at a very acceptable speed. And I'm an impatient sort with computer slowness, LOL! I want it fasterfasterfasterfaster.
You will need to make sure the campground you are going to want to connect to internet, has wifi of course and we usually try to request that we have good access to the wifi antenna so as to get as unobstructed signal as possible.

Whassa matter, Swervie?
Very striking contrast on the b/w picture. Nice pix!
AeroKroil is here...Tulsa guys don't mess around with their orders.
Birds of a Feather
If you had any doubt about how far left California Senator Barbara Boxer really is, check out this love-fest with her friends at the Daily Kos. Boxer writes:
I can't thank all of you enough -- the Daily Kos community, and the blogosphere as a whole -- for all of your effective work during the recent debate over Condoleezza Rice's nomination. [Ed.: I don't think she really means "the blogosphere as a whole;" my guess is that Boxer, who is not exactly renowned for her intelligence, has no knowledge of the conservative 60% of the blogosphere.] Your support and participation in this critical debate meant so much to me.
As you and I both know, this is just one more of the many battles we'll be having as we fight for our nation's future. It started with contesting the Ohio vote, it continued with the debate over Dr. Rice's confirmation, and it will certainly continue over the Gonzalez nomination and on many other looming issues. We're going to need to keep working together to make our voices heard and build a better America.
So it's official: Barbara Boxer is a member of the Daily Kos community.
I meant lurk and monitor of course, NOT hang out.
:^)
I haven't had the chance to lurk over there in a while .. thanks for the update
I'm not really surprised to read that .. Didn't Elizabeth Edwards also hand out over at the DU
BTW . the loons over at the KOS are orginally diehard Deanics
Diehard Deaniacs. That falls in with Boxer's over the top antiwar rants of late. How crappy it must feel to have to pander to that crowd, no wonder she cries.
Psychic Baristas?
January 28, 2005
By Terry Travis
SEATTLE - Seattle is a town fueled by java. Creations by some of its baristas are works of art. But there's apparently science to gauging what you want to drink.
At Cafe Darclee, Sean Klahn is able to accurately figure out what you want before you place the order. He's right about 85 percent of the time.
"I look to what people really want --- inside." He starts with looking deeply into their eyes
"If they look a little tired, they will order something with sugar," he says. "If they look alert, they probably will just order an Americano or a drip".
His partner at the cafe, Jennifer is pretty good at it, too. And she can predict more than just what you're about to drink.
"I can tell if someone is going to leave a tip, if they are going to be a good customer, if they want something sweet," she says.
Sean says figuring it out isn't really a game or a competition between the two baristas. But it is good marketing.
"If you can get more personal with your customers and figure out what they want before they want it, they'll come back to you more than anyone else. You're connected with them."

Ananova:
Man peed way out of avalanche
A Slovak man trapped in his car under an avalanche freed himself by drinking 60 bottles of beer and urinating on the snow to melt it.
Rescue teams found Richard Kral drunk and staggering along a mountain path four days after his Audi car was buried in the Slovak Tatra mountains.
He told them that after the avalanche, he had opened his car window and tried to dig his way out.
But as he dug with his hands, he realised the snow would fill his car before he managed to break through.
He had 60 half-litre bottles of beer in his car as he was going on holiday, and after cracking one open to think about the problem he realised he could urinate on the snow to melt it, local media reported.
He said: "I was scooping the snow from above me and packing it down below the window, and then I peed on it to melt it. It was hard and now my kidneys and liver hurt. But I'm glad the beer I took on holiday turned out to be useful and I managed to get out of there."
Parts of Europe have this week been hit by the heaviest snowfalls since 1941, with some places registering more than ten feet of snow in 24 hours.

Mardi Gras is February 8th and I am trying to decide where to order my live crawfish. My sister said they are really good this year. Darn, I sure wish I could be in Breaux Bridge for Fat Tuesday, but I will make a good one here.

Hi Prairie, thanks for the info on running a computer from a campsite. Hmmmm...I think I had better just take along a couple of good novels to read. LOL

You have any pics of a nice, warm beach to cheer us Northerners up?
Or at least, grannie could post a pic of her pool.
Awwwwwwwww :)
