I try not to get involved in these things, but the SeanQuinn guy emailed me and he really wants to come back!
A 400 pound troll only yields about 3 pounds of actual meat once you gut them and trim off all the fat. Don't let their Michael Moore dimensions fool you.
I would venture the Mods did a background check on them and found they all had priors...
The problem, most at DU have, (except for a few deep cover trolls here)is they think we look at # of posts to determine credibilty. So sad they are. "We look at the content of the post, not the quantity of posts"!
There were some things not completely explained. But the kid did have a friend here who vouched for him... from this side, it's just hard to guess what happened.
Well, even if he had priors... he admitted to an initial intent to be a troll earlier, but had had some change of heart.
Oh well, I shouldn't bond with them until they really settle in and stay. I've had such a weird day today the kid seemed sortof plausible in comparison.
Of Course I am not the All Seeing Mighty Mods, so what do I know?

I don't doubt that the trolls are capable of a plan of acting innocent, building up some credibility, and undermining us all the while. I hope we're doing it to them.
I just hope the Mods aren't zapping everyone who looks slightly, or even moderately, suspicious without further evidence that we can't see.
That ain't right, unless they give a reason. It doesn't cost them any more to post on this thread.

It was one of the more creative "I used to be a liberal, but..." posts that I've seen. But the terminology was a bit too clinical to be sincere. The guy aspired to become a paleoconservative. You don't aspire to that, you just wake up one morning and realize that you are one. Plus, how many people in this country has even heard of the term paleoconservative, let alone knows what one is?
If he was honest, he would have had maybe one or two previous troll posts. But I would guess that he had several other previous attempts to troll, and the mods ran that down.
Plus, I remember my first few posts here. If you are a real newbie red-meat conservative, you don't suck up, you dish it out. Only later do you realize that you can learn something from all the other lunatics here, and start debating instead of just arguing.
Only those from the class of '98 and earlier get meat! LOL
