After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)
A ping to some of the regulars.
Everyone, please feel free to hit your ping lists. My apologies if I'm leaving anybody off my original pings.
YAH HOO!
I saw your last post on a different thread in "Latest Messages". I was going to tell you to check your pings, but I saw from that thread that you already had. ;o)
So how much snow did you end up getting on Christmas? Did you ever get your pictures posted?
About an 1 1/2. I have pictures but they are at Walmart. I left my camera at work and had to use a disposible one. How have you been doing?
Good! The sale of our old house will close (finally) on Friday. I have a moving truck coming over there on Thursday to move out the rest of my stuff, mostly boxes of books, bookshelves, exercise equipment, and boxes of business records. I'd much rather pay somebody to move it all than to rent a van and do it myself. Should only take around 2 hours or so. I went over last week to pack up my remaining books. I packed forty boxes! I can probably get rid of about 25% of them, though. But I'll worry about that later.
I kinda slacked off a bit in November and December, but I'm on track now to get my orange belt in about three weeks. Fall was very busy, but I'm back going 3-4 times per week. They have a "family" class where parents and children can both go. I do that twice a week with Gavin, and then make 1-2 adult classes per week. I have a little catching up to do to pull even with the people who started the same time I did. But I should be able to do it within a few months.
Different site. :-)
"A boulder some 25 feet high blocks both lanes of the Topanga Caynon Road as electrical contractors fix broken power and communication lines in Malibu, Calif. No injures where reported, but the road remains closed." DAMIAM DOVARGANES, AP
Hi! Didn't figure you'd be one of the first to post, but it's good to see you. How's the family?
Wooohooo!
I got the first round number post???
Probably my last as well, once steven and a couple other join in.
Ahh..... the late nights watching 68 "are we there yet" posts may soon be returning...
Ummm...
Why, yes, apparently I can. ;o)
40 boxes! Wow. I thought I had a lot of books. That's good about your orange belt. I wish I had someone around here to go with. Nobody interested though. Still working on my green.
Probably not. Spamming threads to claim a particular post number was apparently ruled a "no-no".
:'). Good to see you.
Yes, is that not amazing!
DO you remember the Old Movie The Blob with Steve Mc Queen, well the boulder looks like the Blob when it ate the town
How do the belt ranks go in aikido? We go "white-yellow-orange-green-blue-red-brown-black". They also started giving out "half belts" in the intermediate belts; you can move, for example, to a "high orange" if you are halfway between orange and green.
Well that answers my question. When we driving in the mountains in Calif, I wondered what kept those big boulders from falling down.
Just happened to be on. Actually on my way to bed, but I'll probably participate over here a little more than TOS. Not enough political activity there.
Gotta bring in SOME theological debate though.
Everyone's doing well here... how are things for you?
Oh... excuse to post pics of the kids (I thought this wasn't supposed to hit until I was a grandpa?)
