Hiya II,

RE: “They try and focus on making this world better by "mitzvot" obeying Torah and performing good deeds which may gradually "repair the world" so to speak.”

Check this story out.

Apparently no one likes it too much….but I’m wondering if it’s a step in returning to the truth. If so, God certainly works in strange ways.

A while back (2yrs ago?) I posted a couple articles that included the Vatican's comments on certain findings within the Dead Sea Scrolls (mostly to do with the virgin birth). I recall comments about revisions that were going to be made in the Bible...that some of the revisions would be radical...and that it would take about 5 years. I remember at the time thinking it would take that long in order to ease people into the adjustments...so as not to lose the flock. Since that article, I have noticed that the Vatican has taken positions that surprise many of their faithful...and even those outside the church. I'm not sure if it's 2 steps forward and one back....or 1 step forward and 2 back. Whatever...interesting to watch.

I didn't see any scripture. Just theologians talking. I'm not sure what they are apologizing for. My biggest concern is the one saying their pope is "inspired". Doesn't that mean whatever he says must be considered correct by Catholics? That is scary to me. It's no surprise that many Jews are waiting for Christ's first coming whereas Christians are waiting for His second coming. Most mainline religions acknowledge this. People should be able to worship as they please but to say my religion right for me but wrong for you and visa versa, but we are both right is very confusing and seems watered down. Just because you care for people and want to bring them into the fold (which I don't fault) shouldn't mean you must compromise IMO. Maybe some of our Catholic friends can shed some light here next week:')

As far as I know, Jews are NOT waiting for Christ, they are waiting for the moshiach.

Don't forget that Jesus was sent to preach repentance and to go to the lost sheep, to bring them back to the fold, not to start a new fold. ;)

I use them interchangeably:') I'm curious to get Dave and IM's take on this. I would like to see scripture where this is coming from.

Just meant it was a mistake on your part since he doesn't meet the requirements of the Moshiach.

But carry on, I equate Jesus with the false messiah.
