The Neverending Story

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

Tundra pictures tonight. I picked up the disc today. The clerk and I just kept staring at them. Unbelievable.

I look forward to seeing them!

And... thanks for the suggestion. I'll post some tundra pictures, too! :o)

There is a thread going on about everything happening "birthing pains" I have a question about something Jael and I disagreed about on TOS. After the resurrection I believe there will be witnessing by the 144000 and the prophets and many will be saved before the mark. Jael countered that it will only be people that have never heard the gospel. What do yall see in scripture?

I know you don't believe in the resurrection but what do you see in scripture about this?

I believe in some kind of resurrection? I believe God can bring life to the dead. Eziekiel speaks of a valley of dry bones that come to life. Revelation is the product of numberous intertestamental apocalyptic writings with some additions. Hebrew scriptures refer to "end of days" from time to time. The Hebrew mindset isn't focused much apocalyptically. They try and focus on making this world better by "mitzvot" obeying Torah and performing good deeds which may gradually "repair the world" so to speak. Whereas the Christian mindset has this earth about to fold up like a scroll and the people in it hopelessly lost unless they choose "salvation". This view lends itself to greater "awareness" apocalypitcally.

I agree that there is scripture refering to the dead being raised and ressurection in the OT too. I've wondered about the scrolling also and if John could have been seeing a nuclear explosion. Who knows. Anyway, my question was though, what does scripture say about people being able to accept Christ in the last 7 years. I understand some may not believe this but how do you read this?

Was never really sure about that even when I did read NT writings as inspired. You'd probably get a better response from someone else. But I appreciate you asking. :-)
