The Neverending Story

The Neverending Story

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

Did you watch the game last night? How is Big Ben doing? That was a nasty looking hit he took on his knee.

Sure I watched. It's nice to see Steelers predictably do the Brady/Vinateri thing to pull out the win.

From thepittsburghchannel.com:

AFTERNOON UPDATE: Tests show Roethlisberger has a hyperextended left knee and a possible bone bruise. "It's a deep sigh of relief," said coach Bill Cowher, who isn't making any roster moves and hopes Roethlisberger will play Sunday against Jacksonville.

Maddox had a calf injury and was out, so Charlie Batch was our only other QB.

Considering Vinny's success Sunday, is there any chance that the Steelers will be making a call to Bradshaw? ;o)

I was thinking Bubby Brister. Bradshaw has a well-paying job.

I see the offenses in Wisconsin ate their Wheaties this past weekend. Too bad the Badger defense skipped the meal.

For whatever reason, Northwestern always gives the Badgers fits. Some teams just seem to have your number, and the Wildcats seem to have the Badgers'.

It was a fun game to watch though. I saw most of it. The Lehigh/Holy Cross game on Fox Sports was fun, too, cause it rained about 3 inches in Eastern PA and the players made termendous splashes whenever they hit the turf.

The Pats are not making excuses or asking for sympathy but they have petitoned the NFL to allow 6 man football until such time as they can suit up at least 22 players. Are you ok with this?

No. I'm not ok with any of these excuses...since my excuse that the Broncos were playing the Pats with a 3rd string qb last time virtually went over like a porkchop in a synagogue.......Welcome those boys to Denver for me this week. :-)

I told you it wasn't an excuse, just an exploratory question. Bill and I thought it would be fun and a change from the dull old NFL routine to play 6 man football.

Have it your way. :-)

I see you got some snow a few days ago. We have had upwards of 8" of rain in the past few days with no real relief in sight. My "duck pond" is full to overflowing and the ducks are back.

For everything there is a season.

I've been putting off this action for a long time, but recent events concerning the completely unwarranted banning of a poster for whom I hold a great deal of respect were the tipping point. As a consequence of this, I have made the decision to stop posting at FR.

I am not asking for my account to be closed, so you should be able to reach me by freepmail. Several of you regulars have one of my e-mail addresses, and Steven knows where to find me.

I'm happy that I've had the chance to become friends with many of you, and I look forward to continuing our conversations elsewhere. I'll close out by asserting one last time that y'all are wrong, and I'm right! ;o)

Many blessings on all of you.

Vince
