After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)
Have either of you seen the new Eisenman book yet? Just thought I'd ask. :) I preordered it but haven't heard anything. I'll check Barnes and Noble later to see if it's release date has been delayed.
LOL, now that's really funny. I thought I double-posted! :o)
Summer arrived with a vengeance yesterday. 87 degrees. After a cold Spring, we finally needed the A/C.

Yeah. Well, wonder what happened. B&N's site still shows May 2005. Oh well. Thanks.
I was sober as a teetotaler when that SOB Lyme Disease Carrying Tick bit me.
I was sober as a teetotaler when I fell and cracked my skull.
I had only two beers (honest!) when I fell into the oven.
I'm almost convinced I'd be better off if I stayed half drunk. :-)
I still see the Doctor every few days and I am healing well. She is keeping a close watch to make sure no infection sets in. She keeps telling me how good it is looking though it still looks pretty yucky to me. :-(
"Half-drunk" is a hard target to hit. Or maintain.
SD
That would seem to be the logical conclusion. :o)
All it takes is a little practise. Drink until you are just beginning to feel the effects, and then continue as needed to maintain the buzz. :o)
When I'm half drunk I tend to start pouring the drinks heavier. Maybe with beer or a steady formula this could be done.

Depending on the quality, 1 hit every 2 hrs does the trick. :)

You guys got mail.

On the morning of April 25, Gregory Despres hitchhiked to the Canadian border crossing at Calais, Maine, carrying a homemade sword, a hatchet, a knife, brass knuckles and a chain saw stained by what appeared to be blood.
Customs officials confiscated the cache of weapons and fingerprinted Despres, but allowed him to enter the United States -- not knowing the gruesome scene about to unfold in the hitchhiker's hometown.
The following day, in the village of Minto, New Brunswick, the decapitated body of a well-known country musician named Frederick Fulton was discovered on his kitchen floor. Police found the 74-year-old man's head in a pillow case under a kitchen table and the body of his common-law wife, Veronica Decarie, stabbed to death in a bedroom.

We must remember to send Canada a 'Thank You' note. ;)
Yikes!
