The Neverending Story

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

Did the old lady ban you from the Internet so you don't come up with anymore of your crazy idea's? :)

She knows better. Wouldn't want me to create any more dirty dishes for her so she lets me have my internet.

I'm back in the saddle. In Salt Lake for a week. Now back for another couple of weeks anyway. Hip hip hooray for the Neverending story fired back up. :-)

You never know where you're going to pick up information. Funny, too, how you'll often, after learning something new, have it come up again soon after.

I'm back in the saddle. In Salt Lake for a week.

You've got to get a laptop like Dave, and stay in a hotel with an internet connection. ;o)

IOW ... is one's direction in life to the good or ... to the evil ?

They are STILL works that are done through a conscious choice to do good or evil.

I agree that there is choice involved ... but I see it more as a life-choice, ... rather than the accumulation of the multitude of the choices we make day-to-day.

In other words ... I set a course for myself.

If I have chosen to be a good man ... then I will make the day-to-day choices which support my being a good man.

This doesn't mean that I won't ever make a choice which is inconsistent with my chosen life-direction, ... but the overall trend of my day-to-day choices will affirm my life-choice.

I have one. I had a high speed connection at the Mariott even. I just had no time this week.

I just tuned in to FM Talk "96.9 on your dial" to listen to Jay Severin, (very right wing) and noticed his theme music is exactly as I remember from my bad old days when I used to frequent strip joints. Very loud and brassy. I wonder where he got his inspiration?

BTW, yesterday my son won his school's competition (third level) for the National Geographic Bee. He was given a bronze medal on a ribbon and a $20.00 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble (one of his favorite stores by the way).

He has to stay after school today to take the test which takes the top 100 scores from the state to go on to the next (state) level.

Congratualations to you ... and to your son.

I'm familiar with him. He did a national show for about two years before he was dumped when the network signed Bob Grant. Severin is something of a libertarian; I liked him. Didn't much care for Bob Grant.

Yer right, I don't shiveagit about those bums. I was hoping they'd steal one from the Colts. I'm afraid of the Colts!

One good thing though; they probably wore the Colts out with all that cruising up and down the field.

had a 6 o'clock flight from Salty to Denver last night. The plane I was to take was coming from Chicago. The weather was nasty in Chicago and so the plane was 4 hours late. Which put me in Denver at midnight. Didn't get home til 2am.

Ugh, that's awful. Were you able to sleep in this morning, or did you need to be in the office?
