The Neverending Story
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. |
After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)
TOPICS: Arts/Photography; Books/Literature; Chit/Chat; Computers/Internet; Education; Food; Gardening; History; Hobbies; Humor; Miscellaneous; Music/Entertainment; Pets/Animals; Religion; Society; Sports; TV/Movies; Weather

Its $5 bucks a month. And after you use it (its simple) you will never watch live TV again, you can let the kids put a peanut butter in the VCR cause you ain't never gonna look at that thing again.
I still have SuperBowl III (1969-1970) on a videocassette and have several DVD's of the Patriots SuperBowl victories. Can I get them with your magic PVR?
I never kept the tapes of the Pat's SuperBowl losses. :-)

So it's either Ted Kennedy and the Patriots or Rick Santorum and the Steelers. Your choice. :-)
Ted Kennedy has as much knowledge of the Patriots as Kerry had with the Packers. The only difference is, Kerry was sober and Kennedy doesn't know what sober is.
Don't you dare connect that fat sob with the Patriots!

Trust me, Dave, you don't want me rooting for the Steelers. The track record of the teams I support is not very good. ;o)
Root for the Colts. PLEASE!!!!!!

Heheheh. It reached 36 today, and that's the highest we'll see in some time. Forecast highs for the weekend are in the single digits, with lows in the single digits below zero. Nothing out of the ordinary here, just winter in Wisconsin. It's 32 and very foggy here right now but it's scheduled to go up to 60 degrees for a few hours (literally) this evening. After that our "normal" weather returns.
When I went out for the paper this morning my deck and steps were covered with black ice. That is nasty!

I should have posted this earlier. Incase anyone is interested, there's a great discussion, regarding the existence of God, on the Dennis Prager show. He's interviewing Gerald L. Schroeder, author of, THE HIDDEN FACE OF GOD. Don't know how much time is left in the show...but what i've heard up to this point is great stuff.

Wouldn't 360 degrees bring it all the way back around to the same spot? ;o)
Yah! That's the secret. All bases are covered.

I cut my own hair with a clippers, using a slightly longer attachment for the top, and shorter for the sides and back. Haven't paid for a haircut in a year. Figure I've saved around $300. :o)
I've given fleeting thought to that but I'm afraid I'd cut my ear off. Besides, my arthritis would make it difficult to meneuver the clipper.

IOW ... is one's direction in life to the good or ... to the evil ? They are STILL works that are done through a conscious choice to do good or evil.

I think the verse you posted was quite clear on its meaning.

BTW, yesterday my son won his school's competition (third level) for the National Geographic Bee. He was given a bronze medal on a ribbon and a $20.00 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble (one of his favorite stores by the way).
He has to stay after school today to take the test which takes the top 100 scores from the state to go on to the next (state) level.

He was pretty excited about it. I didn't know anything about it til he told me. He was more excited over this medal than the one he got last year for having a perfect 4.0 for the school year.
We got a laugh over the winning question yesterday. My sister had bought him a book last year called Dirty Little Secrets of World War II, and there happened to be this one sentence making a comment about Spain being the largest producer of olive oil, and how it's code name was 'Olive'. And that bit of info did it! lol
