After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)
You failed to mention the Steelers, specifically, by name. I will fault you until you declare your natural allegiance for the Black-and-Gold as a default choice for a game-day grilled-sausage, quite-insane dyed-in-the-wool lover of football-as-it-was-intended-to-be-played.
Roethlisberger. Pause. Think about the effort taken to spell that. Think about the "Ben at Work" signs pervading the scene.
Whom are you gonna root for? The Eagles? Vikings? Falcons?
After all New York has done for us, can you even consider rooting for the Jets?
The Colts? Let me introduce you to my brother-in-law. This old Colts-fan will tell you about the NFL and how they leave fans without. Packing up in the middle of the night to scurry away.
So it's either Ted Kennedy and the Patriots or Rick Santorum and the Steelers. Your choice. :-)

Part of the problem is that getting information out of them is like pulling teeth. Hard to put together a proposal when you're mostly pulling the numbers out of your ass. My sister finally was able to talk with our contact at length today about the scope of the work involved, and it is substantially more than they had indicated to us a few weeks ago.
Oh, so it's like TiVo, then.
Trust me, Dave, you don't want me rooting for the Steelers. The track record of the teams I support is not very good. ;o)
Today we had Blue Skies Thank Goodness! but the ground is saturated. And for San Diego it's pretty cold..42 that is freezing to me!
The weather is cukoo everywhere, and I read so many threads lately about the stars in the galaxy and comets doing all sorts of wierd things...Maybe it means nothing but somehow I feel there is something 'uh' cookin in our planet
Women's Intuituon :)
We had a great Christmas this year, it didn't seem like we had been overloaded with advertising and it made Christmas Christmas again with out all those mind numbing commercials.

They don't really seem to have a very clear idea, no. In the type of work we do, it isn't billed at a fixed amount, so we don't have to worry about getting burned on changes or add-ons. For the people we have working there, we charge an hourly bill rate (from which, on our end, comes the hourly wage for the person, payroll taxes, benefits, overhead and profit). Naturally, the higher the volume of business we do with a particular client, the lower the markup we can charge.
Heheheh. It reached 36 today, and that's the highest we'll see in some time. Forecast highs for the weekend are in the single digits, with lows in the single digits below zero. Nothing out of the ordinary here, just winter in Wisconsin.
I don't watch enough television to justify it. Stacy, on the other hand, would probably get a lot more use out of something like that.
If I lived there I definetly would have to have a fireplace in every room!
Hope your keeping warm...
Oh well I couldn't sell ya nothing tonight so the hell with ya. :)
Good night.

On break. Just checking::')
Your politicians perhaps?
Or it could be you aren't bathing frequently enough. :-)
What do you think I meant by calling it a "blue" state?
My bathing, or lack thereof, has nothing to do with it. I live on the New Hampshire border and they are one of the fastest growing states in the country. So there! :-)
Oh, sure. You'd be surprised how quickly you get used to the cold weather.
Wouldn't 360 degrees bring it all the way back around to the same spot? ;o)
My barber does my haircut in about 3 minutes using the number 3 blade yet I pay full price. It's not fair. I complain to her but she just laughs it off. Life is not fair. :-)
I cut my own hair with a clippers, using a slightly longer attachment for the top, and shorter for the sides and back. Haven't paid for a haircut in a year. Figure I've saved around $300. :o)
