The Neverending Story

The Neverending Story

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

Jim, I'm so sorry. I never got to meet you and Ginny face to face but in every post that you mentioned her I saw a happy and gentle spirit. It was an honor to know her. Take care of yourself . You remain in my prayers.

Bud, I'm happy for her and sad for you at the same time. It's never easy to lose a loved one; but, when we know they've gone to be with the Lord, it's a time to rejoice to be sure. All of heaven is chearing her arrival. I can imagine a tickertape parade down mainstreet and Christ playing MC for the event.
Just keep on keepin on, bud. God's taking good care of her, and will take good care of you too. ;)

I was afraid something like this had happened since you hadn't answered any pings from us for the last month.

No words I can wright on this white impersonal screen can say how much sorrow I feel for you JHavard.

May God be with you right now.

So sorry to hear of this, Jim.

OTOH ... how wonderful to know and to be assured that this physical separation is only for a time ... and that you and Ginny will be, ultimately, reunited.

In the meantime ... may God be with you ... and may you find comfort in His arms.

We will be praying for you.

I'm sorry for your loss, Jim.

The angels and saints rejoice at the homecoming of another of God's loved ones. And they stand ready to comfort you as well.

God bless.

Computers in general, even. 10 years ago, we'd pay $1200 for a PC that couldn't even begin to run the software we use today.

What kind of bloated pig software are you running, anyway? ;-)

My college alma mater, Lawrence University, has secured its second consecutive automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. They won the regular season again, and tonight defeated Ripon College in the conference tournament final. You may recall that last year LU advanced to the D-III Elite Eight, losing 82-81 in overtime to eventual champion UW-Stevens Point.

St. Vincent just won their tournament and is ranked 4th in NAIA division II. They are starting up in football again and are exploring the possiblity of going to NCAA division I-AA.

I caught the end of a barnburner on TV saturday night, the AA league high school championship, between two bitter rivals. It finally ended when a kid made a half-court 3 pointer at the buzzer of the third OT, to win by one. What a game.

Jim, I forwarded your post to al_c. Al asked me to convey his condolences, and to say that God isn't through with you here, yet.

Industry-specific database software containing all applicant and client records, including all notes and documentation, attachments, etc. It's pretty massive.

I never understood the whole NAIA thing. Is there any particular reason these teams don't play in the NCAA?

I gather that the dues, etc. are cheaper. I don't really know. Perhaps minimum facilities requirements as well.

Jim,

I am very sorry to hear about Ginny. And yet my sorrow is mixed with some joy to know that she is now with the Lord.

I am praying for you brother.

Jim, I am truly sorrow to hear of Ginny's passing. You must be experiencing so many different emotions right now, from the pain of losing someone you loved so deeply to the comfort that comes in knowing that she is no longer suffering.

I hope that you can find some inner peace in memories of the love you shared.

May G-d comfort you at this difficult time.

My assistant has been on vacation for the past week. So I've been covering her desk as well as trying to keep up on my own stuff.
