The Neverending Story
Free Republic | 3/24/01 | The NES Crew

The Neverending Story

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)

TOPICS: Arts/Photography; Books/Literature; Chit/Chat; Computers/Internet; Education; Food; Gardening; History; Hobbies; Humor; Miscellaneous; Music/Entertainment; Pets/Animals; Religion; Society; Sports; TV/Movies; Weather

Have you ever heard of this before?

Nope. A trivial technicality. A FReeper linked to this on another thread, and from the headline I thought it was our greasy Governor trying to be all-inclusive. So the actual story was a relief.

I didn't realize that the Steelers were previously the Pirates.

I didn't realize that the Steelers were previously the Pirates.

The Pirates were originally the Alleghenies. Until they were accused of pilfering (pirating) a player against the rules from another club.

I am mentally unable to conceive of an electorate that would elect that woman. I just can't see normal joe sixpack blue collar union Democrats voting for her. If such happens, I shall either marvel at the political mastery or descend into DUmmie-type madness.

Me too. My Lefty Looney friend would then be be justified in calling me a Righty Tighty Nut.

Have you ever heard of this before? I can't imagine. For a Steelers fan, it must be like waking up the morning after your wedding and finding out that you married the wrong woman. ;o)

That happened to me. :-)

It's beautiful out today! 37° and sunny, with forecast highs of 40° tomorrow and Saturday. Feels like spring! I guess Jimmy the Groundhog was right. :o)

35 and snowing here? We are forecasted for freezing rain. I'd rather have a foot of snow.

Just to tie the two ideas together, voting for Hillary is like voting for your ex-wife. That's her public persona and it'll take a miracle to change it.

Did you see Bob Novak's column the other day? An anonymous big money Democrat contributor was saying how he and some others he knew of were going to stop writing checks if Dean is made chair of the DNC. Dean will be a disaster and then the Clinton gang will ride to the rescue.

Wanna know how dumb people are?

There's a coupon in the paper for take-out ribs from Damon's and it actually says:

"A la carte items sold seperately"

Wanna know how dumb people are?

The truly sad thing is that, statistically, half the people out there are even dumber than average. ;o)

Statistically, half the people out there are dumber than the median. Way more than half are dumber than the average.

One 200 IQ and four 75 IQs average out to 100.

Been working. Taking a break while I sort thru some papers. 12 more days on this job and then I'm a free for two weeks before I start the new one. I'm trying to have everything "perfect" before the 15th.
