After a nine month hiatus, The Neverending Story, the granddaddy of daily threads, has returned to Free Republic. Originally begun on March 24, 2001, as a religious discussion thread, the NES evolved over time into a daily thread spanning a wide variety of topics. The new and improved Neverending Story will feature conversation on religion, politics, culture, current events, business, sports, family, hobbies, general fellowship and more. We welcome you to hang your hat in our little corner of FR. We ask you to abide by the FR posting rules and, even in the midst of serious debate, to keep the discussion friendly and respectful. Those who wish to "duke it out" are asked to take it over to the Smoky Backroom. I placed this thread in "General/Chat" for a reason, so play nice and have fun! :o)
The roast beef was good.
Other than that, it pretty much sucked. I remember how we laughed in the 70s when Bum Phillips let out his famous "Last year we knocked on the door. This year we pounded on the door. Next year we're gonna kick that son of a bitch in."
We're the Oilers now.

I swear I saw a seagull yesterday, flying around above the highway near Wal Mart. Maybe the storm blew him off course cause there aren't any seas around here.
The great blizzard of 05 was a bit of a bust here. Warm air pushed up from the south and gave us some freezing stuff and held down the snow. They were saying around 7-9 inches, but we only got 5. Sarah had a blast digging in it.

Probably from one of the Great Lakes. We see them increase here in Indiana as we head north toward Lake Michigan. And, of course, they're a staple at Chicago's Navy Pier.
1. Adam V. began the game with a chip-shot 48 yard field goal. So much for the Heinz Field field goal graveyard.
2. The Patriots are the better team.
3. Big Ben has a potentially great future but he has been exposed by the Jets and Pat's as a rookie.
GO PAT'S!

I wish I had some of your roast beef. All I had was popcorn and beer.
How are the Steelers set in free agency and age? If they are good on both points they have an outstanding future.
The Pat's have already lost their offensive coordinator and are pretty sure to lose their defensive coordinator and probably an assistant or two he takes with him.
Ty Law is 99% certain to be gone unless he is willing to take a pay cut. Sombody will pay him big bucks. The Pat's won't.
The Pat's linebackers are getting long in the tooth. Rebuilding needed here.
Their free agency situation is pretty good so they should continue at a high level for a while.

If seagulls could find their way to Salt Lake City they sure as hell could get to Pittsburgh. I don't know why they would want to go there but they could if they wished.
We got all the snow advertised and then some. I have some areas with 3' drifts but most of my driveway was closer to 18".
The poor guy across the street got 2 to 3 times the snow I got. Out back the snow is piled almost to the eaves, at least 7'. The entire length of his driveway was at least 3' deep. He built up banks around the side that were so high his snowblower couldn't throw over them. In fact he caused a few mini avalanches where the bank caved back into his driveway, one of them burying and stalling out his snowblower. At least that lowered the banks enough that he could throw the snow father out. :-)
I'm looking out the window right now and there is a frontend loader clearing out another neighbor's driveway.
I was lucky!
The OT Messiah is supposed to bring peace to all nations, while the Anti-Christ is supposed to bring a false peace. So, when some person manages to bring peace to the world, will Christians insist that he is the Anti Christ?
Do Christians...and do Jews believe that their (real) Messiah will perform miracles? Do Christians believe that the Anti-Christ will perform miracles?

Careful. If my memory serves me correctly the Oilers were unable to fulfill their promises. :-)
The OT Messiah is supposed to bring peace to all nations, while the Anti-Christ is supposed to bring a false peace. So, when some person manages to bring peace to the world, will Christians insist that he is the Anti Christ?
Christians believe that Christ will, ultimately, bring lasting peace to the Earth.
Certain christians also believe that a false peace (among other manipulations) will be established by one who is referred to as the Anti-Christ.
Ultimately, the determination of whether the peace is a true one ... or false ... will be based upon whether it lasts.
Do Christians...and do Jews believe that their (real) Messiah will perform miracles? Do Christians believe that the Anti-Christ will perform miracles?
Christians believe that the Messiah (in the person of Jesus) did perform miraculous works. Not only that, but that these works were prophesied to occur within the saving/healing/providing context of the Messianic ministry.Isaiah 35:3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. When John (the Baptist) sends his disciples to Jesus to confirm that he is the one, Jesus sends back the following reply
4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.Luke 7:19 And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another? Some christians believe that the Anti-Christ will also be capable of performing miraculous works however, that the nature of these works will, likely, be distinct from those that Jesus performed.
20 When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?
21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
All of Jesus miraculous works were those which were healing/helping/providing in nature. There was no miracle performed which did not address some persons need.
By contrast it could be expected that the miraculous works of an Anti-Christ would not be so consistent in addressing the needs of humanity with the goodness of God.
Thanks Q.
Not the Oilers. Maybe the Eagles.
When I saw that, I figured it looked to be a long day for the Steelers.
Big Ben has a potentially great future but he has been exposed by the Jets and Pat's as a rookie.
Agreed. He did well most of the season, but the learning curve caught up with him in the playoffs.
GO PAT'S!
I'll do you a favor and root for the Iggles. :o)
They didn't look like they missed him. And with Owens being out, the injuries kind of cancel each other out.
Aren't the Patriots also sitting on a pile of draft picks?
Jews believe that it isn't necessary that mashiach perform miracles.
Isn't there somebody known as the Prince of Peace?
So, when some person manages to bring peace to the world, will Christians insist that he is the Anti Christ?
Isn't there supposed to be a 'false messiah' before the real Messiah?
Do Christians...and do Jews believe that their (real) Messiah will perform miracles? Do Christians believe that the Anti-Christ will perform miracles?
Seems I have read that the AC is supposed to perform miracles and be charming or something like that. I can't say that I have ever read anything pertaining to the True Messiah performing miracles.
What exactly do you see happening to the church during this alledged 'Rapture'?
Keeping in mind that the rapture is, ultimately, simply a transition point for the church, ... and, really doesn't affect the rest of the rollout of God's plan ... I find that there's the most scriptural support for a rapture before the other major events of the last days.
What exactly do you see happening to the church during this alledged 'Rapture'?
The church's corporate presence in the affairs of the world come to an end.
The individuals which comprise the church transition to the next phase of their existence in the Kingdom of God.
