Oil prices now change regularly almost on a daily basis in one hour 5%. That's more than half of what main western oil stocks changed since oil was $20.

To me your premise is a bit flawed in that you are comparing the volatility of oil which is a traded “commodity” (and one that is subject to wide swings based on rapidly increased Chinese purchases, cold weather that affects fuel oil, pipeline ruptures, etc) with,

in this case, BP which is a fully integrated energy company that has long-term developments that include the largest holdings of natural gas –e.g. 28 trillion cubic feet just on the North Slope
