Yes, you make this come alive for for me, through memory of the sense of smell. Isn`t this amazing how we can retain our senses through memory?

I can smell each, tomatoes, geranium and fiddlehead ferns!

There is a woman who has a Fiddle Head Fern Farm near Talkeetna Ak.

She has written a little book telling about them and so many ways to cook them. Soon into Spring, we can pick them on the mountain side. I like to quick fry them. They taste sensational!

They are very healthy too.

They are so cute too! Did you ever hear of something edible being cute? These are a tiny spiral of green stem and they remind me of a little seahorse, kind of. They are so pretty on a platter or mixed in with other foods. They can be fresh frozen too.

Do you like them too?

Oh yes, the fiddle head fern
a delight to eat
gathered from creek banks neat
in baskets or by the skirt full
the heads we snap above the frond
Curled all tight a solid coil
with little brown covers blown
to the ground or washed away in water
then dried in the sieve
a delight to a meal steamed
as asparagus, a unique taste
dripping in butter or a touch of lemon
the fiddle head fern ...I like them too.

The ferns in my back yard are fiddle heads.

Yes, I have frozen them many times.
