The kayaker got back in at the end, though.

Great footage.
Noteworthy that the predator at the top of the ocean's food chain never goes after humans. (And this was no exception). Amazing animals.

Must have appeared to be a seal from underneath. Thats how they kill other whale calves and seals IIRC.

WHOA!! That's awesome! When I took a kayaking class, the instructor demonstrated the technique of 'rolling' the craft. I was amazed at that, but seeing somebody do it after getting nailed by a whale is even more impressive!

Must have appeared to be a seal from underneath. Strangely enough, I think the orca was just playing. Otherwise, he could just as easily have taken a bite.

My dog does the same thing to any bug she catches. She'll push it around with her nose placing it just right then flop her body on it.
Of course after the third or fourth time whatever it was is generally dead which greatly disappoints her.
I saw her walk over to her dog food bowl once, grab a piece of dog food, and place it by a thoroughly smashed spider she had just been rolling on. She then pushed the food closer with her nose, stepped back, and waited patiently for about a minute to no avail.
